To find fearne cotton annoying

She's promoting a stress book at the moment that is probably ghostwritten. She then goes on about how she's written children's books, cookery books, designed fashion ranges, presented TV and radio all while being a mum.

She's hardly dedicated herself to one craft and probably has minimal input to each of the projects she has put her name to. The only thing I can actually comment on is the presenting and she's pretty dire at that.

Just seems like a sad world where you can get all these opportunities thanks to nepotism and fame. They no doubt take away chances from actual writers or designers.

She's no where near as annoying as 'I love myself Willoughby'....I swear to god if she was made of chocolate she's eat herself.

Plumes · 22/01/2018 14:12

Oh in that case she gets a pass from me, aaaargh.

Commuterface · 22/01/2018 14:12

No wonder her and “giggly” Holly are friends. Both are very annoying with limited talent IMO

Plumes · 22/01/2018 14:13

Her former presenting companion, Reggie Yates, is super sexy these days.

CoolCarrie · 22/01/2018 14:14

They have bloody good agents and networks ,nepotism is rife on telly, not what you can do, more who do you know and who are you married to.

Sparklingbrook · 22/01/2018 14:14

I would rather go down to the pub with FC than HW.

WellThatsATurnipForTheBooks · 22/01/2018 14:25

At least when she's writing books and designing clothes she's not on our TV or radio!! Her and Holly are intensely annoying.

Give me Lauren Laverne anyday, someone who has been in the music industry for years, done the circuits with her band, knows her stuff, is a mum and can string a sentence together.

Commuterface · 22/01/2018 14:28

Lauren Laverne is fab!

whiskyowl · 22/01/2018 14:55

Remember the time when she described her surname as "Cotton, as in cotton-picking" ...to Morgan Freeman?

Remember her coverage of the royal jubilee?

Not commenting on individuals but am connected to the industry and of course lots, but not all, are ghost written. They’re what, 40/60/100k words in a book depending on area, plus illustrations, where are they going to find the time to do that when you think of all the time they must spend getting ready to go on set, rehearsing shows, filming/transmitting shows, doing enough grooming/exercise to stay on tv (a lot!), doing all the other things slebs have to to do (pr like interviews, awards shows bla bla). They must spend hours a day in hair and makeup alone. They get together with their agent and a publisher, plan out a project that meshes with their interests, the public’s interests (e.g stress! Motherhood! Yoga! Clean eating!) and then they work with an editor and prob a ghostwriter to get it all produced and put together.

I always try and explain this to my mum - we both like holly, but mum is insistient that she gets home everyday, gets the kids to bed and whips the typewriter out to crank out another few thousand words.

Shockers · 22/01/2018 15:22

Fuck me, I’d hate to have every foot in mouth moment I’ve ever had remembered by all.

I’m pretty sure she sports a ruddy glow every time she thinks of ‘cotton picking’.

iskegness · 22/01/2018 15:54

Fearne doesn't have much time on set on in makeup, she has a few acting gigs across the year. Many TV shows they film 2-3 a episodes a night. She easily has got enough time Time bang out 60k words for someone to tidy up and make sense of. She's not a movie star with several projects on the go.

Agree with Lauren, she knows what she is speaking about and just sticks to her niche.

I'd eay rather go to the pub with her than the other two who would probably spend their time talking about how amazing they are.

Maybe if you've got a tendency to say racist stupid things live broadcasting isn't for you. Lots of words come out of her mouth, mostly meaningless.

I like Holly, and I always quite liked Fearne until I saw her on Who Do You Think You Are. She was so vacant, like she wasn't listening to anything anyone said, just repeating the last words...

Nice historian: "So your great-uncle was a miner..."
Fearne: "Right, he was a miner?"
Nice historian: "Yes, he worked in a mine."
Fearne: "Right, he worked in a mine."
Nice historian, intriguingly: "But there's more to it than that..."
Fearne: "There's more to it."

It was painful.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/01/2018 16:12

She seems a bit...vacuous. But is far wealthier than I am so clearly she has done something right.

I can’t bear her. Honestly have to turn off the TV/Radio when she’s on so I don’t have to put up with her smug face and voice.

That sounds like her, lots of words no meaning.

I did feel sorry for her with the whole baby paedophilia and everytime she was mentioned. But best for all to just forget about that and hope he won't ever be coming out of prison.

Honestly thought this thread was about HW until about half way down. They're completely interchangeable (and yes, very irritating).

I do think there's more to Fearne leaving Radio1or whatever station she was on then was let on though. Didn't she leave rather abruptly?

giddyupnow · 22/01/2018 17:07

Okay fair enough I don’t know that much about fearne personally but do think holly works quite hard.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 22/01/2018 17:19

iskegness, that's a communication technique, the 'Echo Effect'. It's supposed to make people think you're empathetic, it just makes me want to punch them.

Greatestshow · 22/01/2018 17:24

I thought Lorraine Kelly was an awful presenter until Fearne stepped in while she was on holiday.

scrabbler3 · 22/01/2018 17:39

She was terrible at the jubilee coverage but she was very good in partnership with Reggie Yates I thought. She seems likeable.

I respect her for talking about her depression.

She talked once on the radio about how she was sometimes called Nostrils at school. I thought that was cool. I imagine that it could have helped young listeners who were being teased for their looks - the gorgeous and successful FC was teased too, but look at her now!
