She's promoting a stress book at the moment that is probably ghostwritten. She then goes on about how she's written children's books, cookery books, designed fashion ranges, presented TV and radio all while being a mum.

She's hardly dedicated herself to one craft and probably has minimal input to each of the projects she has put her name to. The only thing I can actually comment on is the presenting and she's pretty dire at that.

Just seems like a sad world where you can get all these opportunities thanks to nepotism and fame. They no doubt take away chances from actual writers or designers.

Lorraine Kelly must have some hold over ITV to keep that half hour she gets every morning. She must know something.

I can see why it could be a good technique but I'm sure cotton isn't using it in a way that anyone would recommend. Every interview she does just seems dim, luckily her TV career seems pretty over and limited to just ITV2.

Iirc she only started talking about depression and other issues like that when she was selling books in that area. So it seems calculating and disingenuous. Her advice is usually to bake a cake or do yoga to get over depression

I have seen little of her since the awful interview with Prince Harry and Prince William in 2012.

I'm very meh on her, she's just done so many shit interviews it would be shame if she got any more. She used to regularly get a Listers and would ask them what their favourite biscuit is then just talk about herself before asking another silly question. She makes Kay Burley look good at interviewing.

Maybe just stop watching her, listening to her or reading her books. She's pretty easily avoidable just like LK.

Kay Burley is a nasty person and a terrible interviewer, I wouldn't say FC could be compared in that way.

Yanbu. I've always found her really annoying. Especially the way she speaks - trying to sound all street and cool to suit the situation. Completely cringe-worthy. It certainly hadn't held her back though!

There's a reason she's had so many opportunities despite being shit.

Well sparkling hopefully she will stop popping up everywhere flogging her book soon, then it will be another year until she reappears again with a new book on an new topic that she's now an expert in.

Careers these days often encompass lots of different areas, I don’t think she’s that different to my freelance friends in that respect with some good marketing.

Yanbu op. I can't stand celebrities who milk their fame for every extra penny they can squeeze out of the general public.

I'm looking at all the comedians who get novels published (esp. Dawn French, Stephen Fry, David Baddiel, Ferne Britton, and now bloody Miranda Hart jumping on the bandwagon).

All celebrity Mums who've written a Mummy book - so Holly, Fearne, Myleene, Jules Oliver.

Multi millionaires like Jamie Oliver and the Beckhams flogging themselves for every single last penny and now their children (in the Beckham's case). It is all SO desperate and grasping. I swear making money is like an addiction for all these people.

She annoys me so much that I just can't watch anything she's in. Horrible Histories used to have a character called Fearne Polyester which I found hilarious

I too have worked with FC in a very stressful situation. She was fucking brilliant. And very very lovely and low key to boot. She has no entourage (bar Hair and make up like any telly presenter), was really ‘ordinarily’ warm and friendly to all crew and worked her arse off.

She’s one of the lovely ones. She left Radio One as she was deemed too old by the Big Wigs in charge. She’s diversified - like many working mothers have to.

For those that think she’s talentless, I have to say I hugely disagree (what with having worked with her & others who were truly shite in comparison). And the comment about having a ‘good agent’ is weird - she’s supposed to have a good agent!

I'm not a particular fan of hers but the R1 age thing really pisses me off. FC at age 36 is 'too old', yet Nick Grimshaw - who is only 3 years younger - is somehow fine?

Another rather depressing example of how a woman can be too old yet a man of similar age is happily absolutely right for the job...

The age thing just sounds like an excuse. Scott mills is in his 40s and Jo was older before she left radio 1. Something happened probably and it's handy to just say it was the age...

I doubt it OP, the Beeb aren’t fond of (and have had their fingers burnt due to) the ‘sackings’ of female presenters due to age. And I have the reason on the best authority.

But you knock yourself out trying to beamirch someone who’s just going about earning a crust. You don’t have to like her / buy the books etc.
