I know IABU posting here, but needed the traffic.

I've always been very close to my Grandad. I'm devastated he's died.

I'm speaking at his funeral - a load of memories I have.

He's half German and I wanted to say something like "Rest in peace Grandad, we love you" in German as I know he'd love that.

Sadly, I never learned German.

I can use Google Translate, but then may get the pronunciation wrong.

I was hoping a wise mumsnetter could help.

Sorry for your loss Flowers

Rest in peace Grandad, we love you
"Ruhe in Frieden, Opa. Wir lieben dich"

For the pronunciation, Google Translate might actually be helpful as you can listen to it. The voice for German isn't too mechanical. That's probably easier than me trying to explain it here.

I'm afraid my German isn't good enough to turn it into a poem. I studied it at uni but haven't really used it since.

What a sweet though. Wyf's translation is spot on.

Make sure you practice the end of "dich" or it might sound unfortunate ;). It's a soft sort of ch, not like in the Scottish "Loch". You get the sound by saying "h" (sharp exhalation) while pressing the middle of your tongue along the roof of your mouth (tip not touching).
