To think selling a car is a pain in the arse!?!

Never successfully sold a car before.
Pretty much always scrapped my cars because I can't be arsed with the hassle of tyre kickers and I don't actually like the idea of showing someone round it. But have always brought a new car (new to me at least) because something was wrong with my old one, probably something small but just ended up getting new ones.
I am on a low income, so no idea why i keep doing it to myself.
I've now actually got to sell a car, and already finding it torturous.
I've only had people asking to swap, is this normal?
I've got my heart set on a car I want, but I need to sell mine first. Finding it a pain in the arse.

YANBU. Last time I did this got gumtree timewasters babbling about shipping, no shows, the works. Scrapped it in the end..

there's only one thing worse - buying. Even main dealers are crooks.

Can't you part exchange yours for the new one?

buddhasbelly · 20/01/2018 16:30

I sold a wee run around a couple of years ago. Had been motd a few months previous but could no longer affors to run it. I was selling for about £500, the amount of time wasters and then the person that finally bought it msged me for weeks afterwards saying this isn't working, that isnt working etc. They were a mechanic apparently and tried to badger me in to giving me then £100 back...they had test driven it and if put in the ad sold as seen.

If I'd known of all the hassle, I Would be scrapped it.

It’s a huge pain which is why a lot of people are prepared to lose £££ and part exchange their old car instead.

MsHopey · 20/01/2018 17:03

My current car is only worth about £1000.
The car I want is only around £1200.
So most the places I've looked at either don't want it or won't offer me an awful lot for it.
And tbh I haven't really got the money to make up lots of difference. I'm happy to sell mine for a bit less.
I have a 2 seater convertible and a 6 month old. I've turned the passenger airbag off but I really don't like the idea of him being in it and I can't fit his pushchair and shopping in the boot together. It's just the worst family car ever. I just want a proper family car. Inexpensive and reliable.

Aren't you the kind of person that webuyanycar is aimed at?
