To think the boots 70% sale is total greed?

My boots had 50% off for 3 weeks.
Nobody touched it hardly, ailes were empty.
Yesterday 8am ..50 people outside waiting to get in.
Then shelves empty by 9.30 am
People grabbing and pushing.
Clearing the shelves with their arms.
Buying 7 of the same thing.
Greed?
You weren’t bothered at 50% !!

I agree @cannotmakemymindup, it's about saving money for the family. When you've got a high rent/mortgage, school fees, travel costs, house maintenance etc etc etc it really helps to get a few loaves of bread and then freeze them, or meat etc. It has been the saving of us many a time, and there's 'nout shameful about being financially savvy. Tube -train -Tesco- as it's known in zone 1.

Oh no
I'll probably end up with this tat for a Christmas present from my mum.

I'd never be ashamed at picking up bargains. On Sunday evening I paid £5.75 down from £19.86 in Waitrose. There was no fighting involved. Why wouldn't you want to do that?

A Tesco near to where I work, now has a security guard lining people up, to stop them raiding the trolley with the reductions on it, as it's being rolled out from the warehouse. Sad

Ukelou · 22/01/2018 02:35

I work in a supermarket and we used to get a lady in who always asked to reduce stuff out of order so she could get it (which is against policy). i always felt a bit sorry for her as she implied that she couldnt afford it otherwise. Then i didnt see her for a few weeks when i saw her again i asked her if she was ok as i hadnt seen her for a while. her reply "oh i have been on holiday to barbados for 3 weeks to get a bit of winter sun" eventually in retail you get cynical.

I keep hearing about this fighting that happens but I've never seen it and I am a regular at the bargain shelves to the point that there's nothing in my freezer that doesn't have a yellow sticker.

The worst I've seen is people waiting around an hour or a bit more with stuff in their baskets in order to present it again for the final 70 per cent off. They also eyeball strangers but you can ignore that. They are annoying pests but not a big problem

If it's that much of a problem then I wonder why managers don't just chuck the stuff in the skip. They don't.

Sensible Barbados woman - she's careful with money so she's able to pay for bigger things like an out of season holiday. What's wrong with that?

SimultaneousEquation · 22/01/2018 07:19

Perhaps the people need the money. Unkind to mock them for it.
