I was shocked when a friend said this about manager

I know my friend has been having a hard time at work, but I was shocked when she said she was tempted to mow her boss down with her car when she saw him walking to his car after work. Obviously she didn't, but I was still shocked that she wanted to.

I would find the film "9 to 5" quite cathartic when a boss was being particularly vile.

Rudgie47 · 19/01/2018 17:35

The thing is if you do seriously injure a work colleague then you will go to prison. That thought is enough to deter most people.
I think what goes around comes around though.

therealposieparker · 19/01/2018 17:38

I'd like to run over my DH's boss Grin

expatinscotland · 19/01/2018 17:40

This shocked you? You don't get out much. LOL @ telling the police about it.

Lizzie48 · 19/01/2018 17:41

I've never felt that way about a boss, but I definitely had murderous thoughts about my DSis's ex, when she told me he had been violent to her. It's all in the head, though. When I actually saw him (DH and I were in the process of helping DSis remove her belongings from the house), I didn't say a word to him, just got on with what we were doing.

If I'd actually voiced what I really wanted to do to him, you would have been shocked. I'm too polite to say, though!! Thankfully, thoughts are not illegal. You actually can't help what comes into your head after all.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2018 17:42

I'd be more concerned about my '
mild mannered friend' being driven to say such things. He must be giving her one hell of a dogs life.

wizzywig · 19/01/2018 17:45

There was a post recently (yesterday i think) about a woman who is being harrassed/ stalked by a 'collegaue'. She is scared of that womans partner. I dont think she said she had thoughy of violence towards her. But i eouldnt blame her. No idea where that thread went

Lovesagin · 19/01/2018 17:46

Someone did not suggest telling the fuzz surely?

That's hilarious Grin

Branleuse · 19/01/2018 17:48

thankfully, we are not at the stage of thoughtcrime quite yet

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2018 17:49

Oh give it time, Bran

Nicknacky · 19/01/2018 17:53

I must have missed it but did someone actually suggest calling the police?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 19/01/2018 17:55

It üouldnt surprise me, Nicky

MadMags · 19/01/2018 17:56

It was tongue in cheek!

lostmyfeckingkeysagain · 19/01/2018 17:57

If you believe she meant it, report it to the police

Grin
meandmytinfoilhat · 19/01/2018 18:00

I don't think she would have actually done that to her boss.

Tarraleah · 19/01/2018 18:00

meh, we all had people we need to vent against, no big deal.

I had a boss from hell, and I did mention quite a few things I would love to see happening to her and her family. I wouldn't have risked any bad karma by going through any of them.
I did make her lose as many clients as possible, but that was fair game Grin

Olddear · 19/01/2018 18:15

I had a horrible boss. I fantasised daily about smacking her over the head with a baseball bat.

HelpTheTigers · 19/01/2018 18:19

I was hoping for a few inspiring methods to use in my boss-torturing /killing fantasy moments, but unfortunately there aren't any better than the ones I have already. Bugger.

Lizzie48 · 19/01/2018 18:25

I think she was probably calm because she was telling you what she thought at the time. By the time she was talking to you, she was no feeling that murderous rage. I bet if she'd talked to you at the time, she wouldn't have been so calm.

MammaTJ · 19/01/2018 18:26

Perhaps be less shocked at what she said and more shocked that her boss is making her feel this way. Poor woman is clearly having a hard time. Are you being supportive? Does she have other people to talk to?

Snog · 19/01/2018 18:38

It's a shame that her boss is making her life such a misery 😔

Fentonspike · 19/01/2018 18:49

It’s not a case of “supporting a different sports team” or not socially wanting to be best mates with everyone or liking a different kind of cake at tea break - workplace bullies are controlling, manipulative abusers who are determined to ruin their targets lives out of hatred and envy.

Anyone who dismisses bullying as “you should be less sensitive” or victim blames has probably never had direct experience of it

Tink2007 · 19/01/2018 18:52

I think you are blowing it way out of proportion.

latara23 · 19/01/2018 19:09

There was an older woman at work who I knew was bitchy about me.

My gym trainer taught me to box & punch 'as if it's someone you hate' well it was that bitchy woman I imagined punching.

BakedBeans47 · 19/01/2018 19:17

I used to have a boss so horrible that every weekend I hoped he would die. And if he had I’d have celebrated. I wouldn’t have mown him down but I’d have probably been tempted like your friend
