I was shocked when a friend said this about manager

I know my friend has been having a hard time at work, but I was shocked when she said she was tempted to mow her boss down with her car when she saw him walking to his car after work. Obviously she didn't, but I was still shocked that she wanted to.

YABU, shes clearly having a shit time at work. Try supporting her instead of talking about her behind her back!

SheGotOffThePlane · 19/01/2018 16:11

Oh wheesht. Have you never plumped up your couch by punching it, imagining it to be someone you absolutely fucking hate??

Same thing

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 19/01/2018 16:12

I want to kill my in-laws. All. The. Fucking. Time. I won't. ..because they're not worth doing time for. When they drink themselves to death, however, I WILL dance on their graves. I imagine this would horrify you

crunchymint · 19/01/2018 16:19

No it wouldn't horrify me you dancing when your in laws die.

Lovesagin · 19/01/2018 16:21

The only way I got through my days working for an absolute cuntsplodge was imagining the various ways I could kill him and get away with it. I really wanted to, so badly, but prison and, you know, I'm not an actual murderer so I'm guessing your friend isn't.

crunchymint · 19/01/2018 16:23

Grin Yes lots of people vent.
It was the quiet serious and understated way she said it. Not venting, more like fact.

OP posts:
MadMags · 19/01/2018 16:25

Well, what's the point of all this, OP?

You're shocked because she said it quietly.

But she's nice.

And you don't think she would do it.

But...what?

pasturesgreen · 19/01/2018 16:30

I have murderous thoughts all the time i wouldn't ever act on them though!

^This. Try unclenching a bit, OP, you may find you like it.

Teddy1970 · 19/01/2018 16:34

No she did not mean it, she is the mildest mannered person you can imagine. But I believe she really wanted to....I don't understand this statement, it's contradictory and it doesn't make sense.

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 19/01/2018 16:35

I saw someone crossing the road in front of me recently (slow traffic). A little while back she was an absolute cow to me...horrible, horrible woman. I confess I enjoyed a fantasy where I watched her bounce over my bonnet. Very satisfying. She's still happily walking about though (pity).

I'm quite nice usually.

StormTreader · 19/01/2018 16:37

Theres a difference between someone clearly venting "aargh, this woman in the queue is so slow, I just want to push her out of the way!" and someone essentially saying "If I knew there would be no consequences, I would have taken that opportunity and run him over."

I think when you get to the second one, thats when its time for friends to suggest that finding a different job should be actively started because that kind of actual hate will poison someones whole life.

crunchymint · 19/01/2018 16:44

Yes it is the second version. And that did shock me, I am used to people doing the aaarrgghh venting, That is normal. The first is not. She won't leave because she can't get another job at anywhere near the same rate of pay.

OP posts:
GrooovyLass · 19/01/2018 16:46

I quite often tell colleagues about horrific things that I'd like to see happen to bosses. Or customers. I'm not angry or shouting when I say it, I'm calm and measured. Doesn't mean I'm going to facilitate something dreadful. Chill out!

thenightsky · 19/01/2018 16:47

DD's abusive vile ex was once crossing the road right in front of my car bonnet. I can't say I didn't think about it for a few seconds. I might even have revved my engine, menacingly. Grin

Another time I was driving down a country lane early one morning and same vile abusive ex was walking on the left hand side. As I passed him I suddenly realised who it was and said... 'shit, that's gobshite twat face'. My friend in the passenger said, quick as a flash... 'back up at speed, nobody would ever know and I'll not tell'.

I didn't though.

Lovesagin · 19/01/2018 16:51

You have probably just never seen your friend so angry/upset like this before so you're mistaking a normal thing that many people have said for actual murderous tendancies.

ClaryFray · 19/01/2018 16:54

That's often muttered at my place before morning coffees cold. I think your being a bit precious.

Branleuse · 19/01/2018 16:55

I think if she was seriously considering murdering someone, shes not going to just casually mention it to her colleagues. Shes blatantly not serious. I cant believe you even think it might be

AJPTaylor · 19/01/2018 17:01

I had a boss that i would happily have murdered.tbf if i saw now 6 years later and had had a bad day i would still think about it. Feckin hate her.

ptumbi · 19/01/2018 17:03

So she wasn't 'venting', she was quietly seething and picturing running him down. But she won't.

What's your problem, OP. Are you shocked that she thuoght it so vehemently? Or that she vocalised it? Or that she is capable of such vicious anger?

Either way, it's nothing to do with you what her thoughts are.

Anniegetyourgun · 19/01/2018 17:05

I had a boss that another colleague tried to strangle in the pub (corroborated by several reliable witnesses). And his ex-wife allegedly chased him round the kitchen brandishing a carving knife. I am not at all surprised.

KC225 · 19/01/2018 17:06

Back in the 90s I had weekend work as a student and the Manager was a vile despicable man. Dodgy practices, mean and spiteful.

A guy came back from his break saying the guy working in the ciagarette kiosk (central London over 20 years ago and no longer there) said he was a trained assassin and on the run from the new regime in his homeland (unconfirmed could have been white) After work drinks we decided to have a whip round to have the Manager done. We drew the line at murder but we voted to have his tongue ripped out and stapled next to the board on the wall where staff had to had 'I am an idiot' or 'I am a fucking embarrassment' whenever the whim took him.

Alas we didn't do it.

KC225 · 19/01/2018 17:07

Unconfirmed could have been shite

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 19/01/2018 17:11

I.have murderous thoughts all the time i wouldn't ever act on them though!

This. Wouldn’t act on them, and sometimes, when they’re especially bad, wouldn’t actually voice them either!

steff13 · 19/01/2018 17:16

My boss is an arse. Maybe I should suggest we swap murders?

Nah, if you're going to do that you have to swap with someone you don't know. Watch Strangers on a Train.
