£180.00???????????????

I am neither pro or anti royals.

But £180.00 for a buzz cut (William). My DP buzzes his own head every fortnight in the garden for free.

As I understand it (prepared to be told that I'm wrong about this) but don't they get some kind of state handouts? Is this a reasonable use of our money?

I know they have to live in horrible old houses that probably cost a fortune to heat and maintain and I shudder to think about the council tax, but £180.00 for a buzz????

NHS? Schools? Social care? Roads? Potholes? Police? National security? Investment in environmental products - replacing plastics etc? Charities? Legal aid for those disenfranchised? Social justice campaigns ........ Sorry ....... You get the idea.

AIBU????

Who's your source?

HariboForBreakfast · 19/01/2018 08:34

Been reading The Sun?

Undercoverbanana · 19/01/2018 08:34

They just said about it on the radio.

ButDoYouAvocado · 19/01/2018 08:34

Do believe that it did?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 19/01/2018 08:35

There's a common misconception that money ring fenced for specific uses could be used on the things you've listed nope t couldn't

Ifailed · 19/01/2018 08:36

I wonder how much his wife pays for a haircut?

SavvyFishFinger · 19/01/2018 08:37

Rejoice that someone has just received £180.

Change the way you view how life works.

ArnoldBee · 19/01/2018 08:38

The profit from the Duchy if Cornwall supports Kate and William so the more cute little biscuits you buy the more money there us to support them. Also William had a few million from his mother's will so don't worry the country isn't being deprived of valuable funds due to his haircut.

GrimDamnFanjo · 19/01/2018 08:38

He does look a million times better though [shallow, misses point].

Eve · 19/01/2018 08:39

..and they know it cost £180 how?

SpoonfulOfJam · 19/01/2018 08:39

I spent £15 on 2 toys, to bribe my 4yo Into the barbers chair. Barber did an amazing job, charged £7.50, I told them to keep the change from a tenner. £25 pounds for a boys (very short) cut. What a mug.

I imagine I'll be spending £180 on boys haircuts in no time.

StorminaBcup · 19/01/2018 08:40

Perhaps the idea is that the celebrity hairdressers charge more for being discreet? Obviously not worked in this instance though Hmm

Dipitydoda · 19/01/2018 08:45

I thought the duchy of Cornwall estate pays for William and Harry

billybagpuss · 19/01/2018 08:45

The boys are both wealthy in their own right, Diana's estate would have been divided between the two of them, if he wants to spend £180 of his own money on a hair cut thats his business. Contrary to what republicans seem to believe every thing the Royals spend does not come out of the public purse. The money they receive from the civic list is to maintain the properties and expenses for public events everyone seems to think this is their salary - its not.

LarkDescending · 19/01/2018 08:47

The Civil List was abolished around 2013 I think.

saladdays66 · 19/01/2018 08:48

I think the Sun needs a proofreader:

Prince William shows off new close-shaved hair stye

Grin Grin

And 'shows off', FFS?? He's not parading around going 'look at my hair'. Eurgh.

And OP, if you Google, you can easily find out where the Royal Family gets its money - look at uk.businessinsider.com/where-does-the-royal-family-get-money-2017-1

'state handouts'??? Hmm

saladdays66 · 19/01/2018 08:49

Or this might be a better source - www.royal.uk/royal-finances-0

Majuna · 19/01/2018 08:50

He does look a million times better though

I agree.

I also hope he tipped them.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/01/2018 08:50

I agree Grim, he's been crying out for having his hair cut like that for years.

I suppose the £180 was for someone sufficiently discrete and professional to visit him personally at a venue of his choosing, plus possibly a tidy up of ear and neck hair, although when I saw it on the news this morning, I thought, 'did he have a back, sack and crack wax as well for that price'.

highinthesky · 19/01/2018 08:50

Wills looks far more modern for it.

However, if he’d asked me to quote him first, he would have found that it can be done for an economical £178.99.

BarbaraofSevillle · 19/01/2018 08:51

And yes I do now realise I used the wrong discrete/discreet.

whirlygirly · 19/01/2018 08:52

High Grin what a bargain.

Mrsmadevans · 19/01/2018 08:53

I want to see the pic please ...Anyone?

Rudgie47 · 19/01/2018 08:55

He looks about 20 years older no matter what he does with his hair.
