Drinking in a pub.

I haven’t been out to a pub in years, am going out to one this weekend. Aibu to ask you what you like to order to drink? I need ideas so that I look like I know what I’m doing when I get there.

Oh and chicken in a basket.

maybaby17 · 18/01/2018 23:55

Depends on my mood but either a fruit cider, prosecco, gin and soda or vodka soda lime

Anything works at any time of day these days.

user7680 · 18/01/2018 23:56

Cider?

ExtraSpecial1 · 18/01/2018 23:58

Mirage or Taboo?

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 18/01/2018 23:59

Have a gin and tonic OP. Or something simple like a cider. Both are nice. If you ask the barman "what's a nice cider?" he or she will run through them for you and tell you the strengths.

HildaZelda · 19/01/2018 00:02

Merlot, malbec or rooks

Dry cider of some form or another

Jameson - neat. Because watering it down with ice or anything else is a waste of good Jameson.

saladdays66 · 19/01/2018 00:02

Ask for the wine menu and order one you like the sound of. Enjoy!

Reddlion · 19/01/2018 00:05

Rosa wine or vodka and tonic

Reddlion · 19/01/2018 00:06

if you want a cocktail defo try a porn star martini
you get a little shot of prosecco with a lovely cocktail

AnnieAnoniMouse · 19/01/2018 00:07

Just when you think it can’t get any weirder around here...it proves you wrong 🤣

ilovepixie · 19/01/2018 00:09

A bottle of Bucky would be ur best bet.

Evenbetter · 19/01/2018 00:10

I understand why you’re asking, OP, I only drink one supermarket brand of spiced rum, so on the very very very rare occasion I have to go to a pub, I have a disgusting rum and coke watered down with unwanted ice, or panic and order wine I don’t want. And it’s so expensive for the pleasure of being surrounded by deafening noise. Ugh.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 19/01/2018 00:12

GnT is my pub standby. But whatever floats your boat. Have fun!

Tisgrand · 19/01/2018 00:12

I know what you mean about stained teeth, thats why I gave up drinking red wine when "out". Now I order rose (sorry don't know how to do the little thingy over the e). Wines in pubs are usually designed to be as inoffensive as possible in order to appeal to as many people as possible, so while they may not be the finest vintage, they are usually drinkable.

Jux · 19/01/2018 00:18

I generally order coffee, sometimes with a shot of spiced rum. Or else I have a half of lager/cider shandy.

OlennasWimple · 19/01/2018 00:21

How about a Slippery Nipple?

MarthaArthur · 19/01/2018 00:21

Snakebite and black!!! Haha yum

Ginkypig · 19/01/2018 00:36

Ooh I was just going to say that I used to like a slippery nipple!

Or an absinthe.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 19/01/2018 07:41

Why aren't sexually named cocktails ever called after man-parts?

I'd like a Hot Cock please
How about a Pink Ballbag?

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 19/01/2018 07:42

EvenBetter what will you do if it gets discontinued??

Bluntness100 · 19/01/2018 07:44

Vodka and Diet Coke or a white wine. Do you not know what you like to drink other than red wine?

Cosyclara · 19/01/2018 07:49

I love red wine but never drink wine when I am out... I seem to get too drunk. I stick to pints of lager or G&T. Have a lovely time OP

SaucyJack · 19/01/2018 07:50

Pint of Stowford if they've got it on tap. Bottle of Bulmers too.

Both nice, sweet easy drinking ciders. Strongbow is best avoided.

GlitterUnicornsAndAllThatJazz · 19/01/2018 07:52

Just get a pint of Carling.

If you're on a diet get a vodka and soda water with fresh lime.

If you don't actually like the taste of alcohol ask for a vodka lemonade.
