Just being nosy really.
I rent in the south-east (Hampshire area) and it's expensive. My last place was a private rented 1 bed cluster house which set us back £700 a month!
Now in a council house, paying £490 for a 2 bed.

Often think about moving away from Hampshire, but would like an idea of what the prices are like elsewhere!

I charge my lodger £900 just for his room in my 2 bed flat! London

OrangeCatnip · 18/01/2018 14:47

Cambridge, about 2 miles from the city centre. small 3 bed 1960s terrace £1440 per month. its considered competitive!

3 bed housing association house in Yorkshire for £93/week. We don't have in a very nice area though (though there are worse places to live) and although we have a decent sized back & front garden we don't have a driveway or a garage. Also, our wf postcode is cheaper than houses in the neighbouring ls postcode.

theunsure · 18/01/2018 14:49

My tenants pay me £850pcm for a small 2 bed house in Milton Keynes.

Littlebitshort · 18/01/2018 14:50

If your thinking (and can afford) to move out of your council place to rent privately elsewhere then i think thats great as you are potentially freeing up a place that a family may desperately need more than you. However, if this was me and id managed to bag myself a cheap council property i would hang onto it with dear life!!

Curiositykillsthecat · 18/01/2018 14:57

@Littlebitshort
That's my thinking, not for right now but sometime in the future.
Why stay in a council place if we're able to relocate to a private rental that would cost around the same? I'd also love to move to a fresh place with a bit less traffic and a bit more open space!
Used to love horse riding years ago but I can't afford lessons here and there are no suitable/cheap stable options around....
Starting to daydream...

@Jon66
Will also be considering that when the time comes but as I said above, if in the future when we do move we find a cheap private rental elsewhere it'd be daft to not give up the council house to someone who needs it

Unpaid 895 for 3 bed in Hampshire

Now moved to east Anglia and 4 bed is 875

Mulberry72 · 18/01/2018 15:02

We’re on the outskirts of a large NW City (not Liverpool) and pay £695 for a large 3 bed semi.

MotherofaSurvivor · 18/01/2018 15:04

I live in Harrogate and pay £750 for a tiny 2.5 bed! Apparently this is very cheap for the area 😳

MrsKoala · 18/01/2018 15:04

2 bed flats round here are about £1200 a month.

MrsKoala · 18/01/2018 15:05

Sorry West Kent.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 18/01/2018 15:05

I'm in Bristol and the private rented sector is bonkers round here. In my formerly cheap part of town you can pay 800+ for a 2 bed house. Plus it's so uncertain, short tenancies.

treaclesoda · 18/01/2018 15:44

Curiosity yes, those would be private rentals.

NutellaFitzgerald · 18/01/2018 15:59

Sussex coast her and rents for a house on my street is £1650. That's 3 bed terraced house. My take home pay is less than that so if I rented I'd not be able to afford where I live.

totorostoes · 18/01/2018 16:22

£675 a month for a small 2 bed terrace house in North Yorkshire. £133 council tax a month/10 months per year.

Our three bed house in Folkestone costs us £925 pmth. Our old two bed house in E London cost us £1500 pmth.

mumonashoestring · 18/01/2018 16:34

Oxford's hideous - average £1200PCM for a 2-3 bed house in a not-too-bad-but-not-great area, a hell of a lot more if you want to be somewhere central or 'naice' like Summertown.

imsobloodytired123 · 18/01/2018 16:41

Town in bucks. Last place I rented was £950 for a 2nd floor 2 bed (tiny) flat.

LakieLady · 18/01/2018 16:44

Sussex, a few miles from the coast: 1-bed flat, £700+, 3-bed house approx £1200.

Despite high house prices, my boss has just bought a one-bed flat with a 10% deposit and her mortgage payments are a lot less than she would pay in rent.

2 bed flat in centralish Glasgow around £800.

BitchQueen90 · 18/01/2018 18:15

I'm in a commuter town in the east Midlands. Rent is reasonable round here. I pay £425 a month for a spacious 2 bed first floor flat. No outside space though.

A 3 bed semi with garden is around £675pm, some are even cheaper.
