A nod to Banzai there for old timers like me.

Old thread here.

Question is, is it Mueller time yet? Anyone fancy placing a bet on when Trump will exit the POTUS role?

My bet: 20 March 2019.

I am astonished the committee voted (unanimously!) to release. Can’t see why they would want this information out there and unlike Feinstein, I believe schiff couldn’t just release it without the republicans say so.

Worth a read:

Sarah Kendzior
@sarahkendzior
During the presidential campaign:

  • WSJ killed op-ed on Trump's mafia ties
  • Multiple outlets, most notably NYT, lied about Trump's Kremlin ties and FBI investigation after being briefed on them
  • Multiple outlets killed Trump porn star and hush money stories

Those are just the stories on Trump we know were killed. There are likely more. In Sept 2016, I wrote about how Trump had threatened and bribed much of the media into submission:
www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/be-afraid-trump-may-have-bought-the-fourth-estate/article31789981/

The Trump lawyer implicated in the porn star case, Michael Cohen, has a history of threatening journalists, and did so during the campaign:
mobile.twitter.com/sarahkendzior/status/793651579387719680

In August 2016, I wrote a thread on the sycophantic Trump coverage, which worked against any financial incentive the media had. When that happens in a struggling industry, ask why. Thread:
mobile.twitter.com/sarahkendzior/status/769911839379427328

In January 2017, I wrote a thread on NYT pro-Trump propaganda. This is only one example; NYT is still doing this. Ask why an outlet would work against both the truth and their bottom line. Thread:

Sorry for bringing this up so early in the morning but despite trying to steer clear of salacious reports of trump/stormy Daniels/creepy overtones re:ivanka, it’s possibly unavoidable now. Look away if you’d like to retain your breakfast:

The headlines day before yesterday (I think - time is hard to keep track of with this presidency) were all about how trump compared stormy to ivanka. These were usually accompanied by two photos of the women, in order for people to see how similar they are, I guess.

Then yesterday, Daniels revealed that:

Stormy Daniels Once Claimed She Spanked Donald Trump With a Forbes Magazine
At his request.

www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/01/stormy-daniels-once-claimed-she-spanked-donald-trump-with-a-forbes-magazine/

In response, Dubé expressed surprise that Daniels was friendly with Trump. “Donald Trump?” she wrote. “In her cell phone?”

”Yep,” the other consultant replied. “She says one time he made her sit with him for three hours watching ‘shark week.’ Another time he had her spank him with a Forbes magazine.”

Dubé and the other consultant confirmed to Mother Jones they exchanged these emails.

The campaign consultant who wrote the email to Dubé tells Mother Jones that Daniels said the spanking came during a series of sexual and romantic encounters with Trump and that it involved a copy of Forbes with Trump on the cover.

A fall 2006 cover of Forbes does feature Trump and two of his children, Donald Jr. and Ivanka.

But the most important revelation, IMO, is:

This was also in the piece. Equally bizarre (but less Stomach churning)

In her seven-year-old interview with In Touch—which was only published this week—Daniels described Trump obsessively watching Shark Week in his hotel room during one of their visits. (In several tweets in 2013, Trump expressed strong views on sharks.) Daniels also noted that the first time she met Trump—at a July 2006 celebrity golf tournament—he invited her to his hotel room and boastfully showed off a magazine cover featuring himself—before they had sex.

Lweji · 19/01/2018 07:31

that reference to ‘shark week’

It's a TV thing. And actual programmes actual but sharks.
Last year they did a "race" between a shark and an Olympic swimmer.

Lweji · 19/01/2018 07:32

"Actual but" should be "about". Confused

Sharks are a twist I didn't see coming. But to be fair Stephen Millers eyes could be swapped out for shark eyes and nobody would know the difference.

Roussette · 19/01/2018 08:06

Just wondering some things...

As far as I know, Stormy is still denying anything happened between Trump and her (because she was paid off). How is all this stuff coming out now?

As far as the shutdown and Across saying it doesn't really affect the average american... is the significance of it because it's what it stands for? Trump keeps on about the military, yet I read somewhere that they won't be affected.

This new rule 45 is going for with regards religious freedom. This is pretty bad isn't it.... ambulance workers can refuse to take a lesbian to hospital, doctors and nurses can refuse to treat HIV, and then there's abortion and lack of birth control. It's all very shocking... is this a Bill to be voted on, or can he just do this?
I this goes through I think there should be a Bill allowing healthcare workers the freedom not to treat Republicans...

badbadhusky · 19/01/2018 08:20

It's a TV thing. And actual programmes actual but sharks.

Phew! Thanks for explaining. It’s telling that I even entertained the other version - either that I’m a bit warped (although it’s playground slang around here for periods) and that Trump’s so ‘out there’ that it could be a ‘thing’.

lweji that article really encapsulates the whole problem. Trump is an issue, yes, but it's the Republicans who are failing to act as a check (I know we've known this for awhile but the article articulates it really well).

Russia accuses Washington of leaking diplomats' bank details

www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-russia-diplomats/russia-accuses-washington-of-leaking-diplomats-bank-details-idUSKBN1F72OV

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia’s foreign ministry on Thursday accused U.S. officials of leaking to the media confidential financial details of Russian diplomats working in the United States, and demanded that those responsible be punished.

U.S. media outlet Buzzfeed reported this week that U.S. officials investigating allegations of Kremlin interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election were studying records of financial transactions involving Russian diplomats. Buzzfeed cited details of several bank transfers.

“It’s obvious that this could not have happened without the knowledge of the authorities of that country (the United States),” the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

“In other words, this intrusion on the sanctity of the accounts of the embassy and its staff, who have diplomatic immunity, is the work of Washington officialdom.”

The statement said that the transactions that were leaked contained nothing except routine payments, but that these were being twisted to make them appear suspicious.

“Once again we have to note that Washington is not ensuring the appropriate conditions for the functioning of Russia’s diplomatic missions. The pressure on them continues and is growing,” said the ministry.

“We demand that the American authorities, at last, start implementing their own national laws and international obligations, immediately stop the unlawful distribution of confidential information .... and hold responsible those who are to blame, including those who hold relevant posts in the American state administration.”
