Title says it all really. I can't be the only one fed up of seeing thread after thread on here beamoaning people who call in sick to work. All of them will start with a disclaimer saying they don't mean people with health problems, but the op will never accept the idea that they might not know if a colleague has a long term debilitating condition.
I'm sick to death of the attitude we have to sickness in this country. A friend of mine just moved to Germany and the idea of coming to work when ill is unfathomable to people over there. I work in food service and we're disciplined for sick days, which means people come to work ill and next thing you know the whole kitchen and front of house staff has it. All ready to spread our germs to the customers.
I'm off work sick with mental health difficulties at the moment, and I dread to think what my colleagues are saying about me. None of them know I was hospitalised at the weekend, but they could just as easily be a poster on here bemoaning my work ethic. Maybe we should all accept that we don't know other people's circumstances
