I'm here publicly admitting (although with name change) that I'm 27, married and a mother of one and I like to sleep cuddling my jelly cat penguin my hubby bought me when I was 18 Blush

Anyone else a bit random?

OP posts:
Gemz1806 · 16/01/2018 22:44

I've got a couple, the volume on the tv radio has to be a even number. And I never look in the bathroom cabinet mirror when I close the door, if I do I will then see the man/murderer standing behind me! Very irrational!! Grin

CaoNiMa · 16/01/2018 22:48

Um, I have a ribbon called a "La-la" that I rub on my nose when I'm in bed all the time

I'm nearly 40!

Sillybilly1234 · 16/01/2018 22:53

When on the phone I stroke the back of my neck.

My husband says that I am reassuring myself. I think he is right but would never admit it.

PippaPug · 16/01/2018 22:58

I never even thought about my penguin being cut up at the airport 😱
Last year we were away on holiday and Penguin got launched out of bed for a
Bit of fun the boyfriend 🙈 when I picked Penguin up he had lost a eye, I felt so guilty...we drove to a doll hospital and had them replace his eyes and the guy did it as quickly as possible as he said that he could see I was worried 🙈😂 Im in my late 20’s!

@Hunting - glad I’m not the only one who worries about monsters!

@Grow - I also sleep with some form of pjs on and a cover - I don’t get how people sleep naked with nothing over them!

Mybabystolemysanity · 16/01/2018 23:04

crashbang

I'm freaked out at your username on this topic! Would love to learn to ride a bike. The male friend used to and I started it with him before I met DH.

Glad it's not just me, but I am now wondering if I should start sleeping with a teddy bear...

Seren85 · 16/01/2018 23:10

I'm another who won't look in the bathroom or living room mirrors if I'm alone in case there is someone stood behind me. I blame Twin Peaks!

Mimsy123 · 16/01/2018 23:10

and I kiss the front of his helmet!

I'm sorry, but that made me giggle like a schoolgirl.

littleshoutymouse · 16/01/2018 23:13

If I cook something that I really love, or that came out better than expected, I pretend in my head that I’ve been stranded on a desert island for months and this is my first proper meal so that I really savour it Blush never told anyone that!

PerpetualMotion · 16/01/2018 23:36

I go weird if I see a nose pushed upwards / very upturned - watching League of Gentlemen is difficult. I have to rub my nose down the way to make things right. I've rubbed it while writing this as just thinking about it is enough. No idea why.
My kids wind me up by pushing their noses up and I have to work quite hard not to overreact so that they don't do it more often.

disneydatknee · 16/01/2018 23:41

I will stick my finger in my ear and have a good dig around (like most people do to get that little itch) but then I do this clucky clear my throat thing at the same time. I know it gross and annoying but it’s so satisfying. I dont know anyone else that does this and my husband finds it disgusting.

SabineUndine · 16/01/2018 23:44

I put the bedside light on when I get home cos I hate going in the bedroom when it’s bedtime if it’s dark.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 16/01/2018 23:50

I used to do the launching-into-bed-from-the-doorway to avoid the monsters under the bed that would grab your ankles, but bought a divan bed with drawers under it a couple of years ago and worry no more!! No room for monsters, only spare bedding. Bliss!I

I also speak to one of my cats in a Mexican accent, as he has long droopy whiskers, like a Mexican moustache. Only been caught once, by a tradesman.

LemonysSnicket · 17/01/2018 00:06

I sleep with my teddy cat I’ve had since I was 2!

My DP makes triangles with his nose. So he’ll look far to the right and align the profile of his nose bridge with, say, a corner of a window. To make a triangle... no idea why.

I tap on doors I lock 5 times because then I definitely remember that I DID lock it.

LemonysSnicket · 17/01/2018 00:07

And same as @Glumglowworm

If you tap
My left shoulder I will tap my right one ... to rebalance me...

LegallyBrunet · 17/01/2018 00:16

I also like things-such as TV volume- in multiples of three. The absolute perfect number is nine because it's three times three.

Bimbop5 · 17/01/2018 00:16

I have a piece of satin from my baby blanket that I have to hold in my hand and rub on my lips and nose at night. I take it with me travelling. I'm 42, sigh. My husband thinks its cute and silly but accepts it. I also have a stuffed elephant that I sleep with but I don't usually take him on trips. But sometimes I do if I feel I will be stressed out.

TheExtraPickle · 17/01/2018 00:44

Sometimes when I cook, I narrate it like I'm on a cooking show (I'm a cooler, less posh Nigella)

I also sometimes imagine I'm doing YouTube videos when I do my makeup.

I talk to myself a LOT. mostly having conversations I'd really like to have with other people.

goingonabearhunt1 · 17/01/2018 00:44

I have quite a collection of teddy bears.DP has got used to making room for them in the bed.I have always loved bears. I arrange them in different formations.

I also chew my lip (gross I know but it's a nervous habit) and tap one particular tune with my fingers when I'm antsy. I also do the thing of saluting singular magpies and throwing salt over my left shoulder if I spill it (but that's just sensible right? Grin)

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 17/01/2018 00:51

goingonabearhunt I am also a magpie saluter/ salt over shoulder thrower. Has to be done

CremeFresh · 17/01/2018 01:02

Platypus my bed has a tiny gap under it but still do a jump that Jonathan Edwards would be proud of from the doorway into it. Don't you realise that monsters can make themselves flat so they fit under any bed ?

IrkThePurist · 17/01/2018 01:12

I dont look in a mirror if I have to get up for a pee in the night. The thought of it is terrifying. Its an old family superstition.

IlikemyTeahot · 17/01/2018 01:13

@glumglowworm I thought I was the only one.
one of many odd 'rituals' I have

IlikemyTeahot · 17/01/2018 01:14

@legallybrunet me too!

IlikemyTeahot · 17/01/2018 01:23

Left and right must feel the same. Cannot even wear odd socks because they might feel different! Even if I'm only scratching, I must scratch the other side. Getting a burn or a stubbed toe is a toughie. I constantly pull my ears or eat lip skin when nervous (gross I know) Will absolutley not look in mirrors at night (or home alone). Have to have some light to sleep. Bedding absolutley must be tucked in and no lumps in my duvet...also buttons MUST be at foot end...freaks me out. Gosh I have so many more...but happy to know I'm not the only weirdo 🤣
And I thought everyone saluted (makes conversation with) magpies?!

halfwitpicker · 17/01/2018 01:24

Very cold water feels hot to me for the first second, and vice versa

Not sure if this is the same for everyone Confused
