Do you believe in waiting til the right person comes along or should you be out there actively search for him?

That’s a great question! I wish I had the answer. I basically swing between these two views.

I think the reality is it’s a great deal to do with luck and being proactive with inyernetvdaying increases your chances greatly.

Although I read this alternative view was interesting:

Sorry for horrid typos - it’s so early!

I think you have to be actively looking and making an effort. I know people who've been waiting a lifetime for the right person to come along and sadly it doesn't seem to happen. I think it's code for avoidance.

I think it depends a bit how old you are and what you want. When I found myself single at 32 and wanting marriage and kids I didn't think I could afford to sit around and wait and needed to be proactive.

I waited around 'til I was 34 then realised that approach wasn't working!! My friend finally talked me into trying on line dating (e harmony). I went on my first date and it was awful!! Swore i would never do it again but already had an other date (different guy) arranged. Decide to meet for coffee instead of cancelling and met my husband! Moved in together after 6 months, married a year later. Have one lg and a new baby on the way😁. Was a huge lack of confidence issue for me so very glad my friend talked me into it!

I think a bit of both.

Go out there, live your life the full and be open about grabbing social opportunities, talking to people, meeting up etc

When I was 27 I started actively looking by joining an OLD site.

Prior to that I'd just been coasting through life, dating men as I met them and ended up wasting about 9 years of my life on arseholes.

I met someone very quickly through OLD, moved in with him 4 months later and now 7 years down the line we're married with two children.

I say get searching for him - life is too short to hope you might stumble across him.

A bit of both I reckon. You have to put yourself out there and not expect to meet Mr Right in a one off romantic chance encounter. On the other hand you have got to be prepared to give love a chance to grow and not think that if you are not immediately overcome with lust then he is not for you.

Andromeida29 · 16/01/2018 19:56

I think it's a bit of both. I joined a dating site thirteen years ago when I was 22. Had one date, met my partner and we're still together, own our second home and TTC our first.
