to want to find a job before we move 200 miles away

Hi MN,
my DP and I are relocating to a city 200 miles away in about 6 weeks time and I want to find a job now before I move there but know it will be difficult. It would probably just be a retail job but i'm wondering if anyone knows how likely it is I can interview in one city for a job in another city or if anyone has any experience of doing this. Obviously it would be easier to just start looking once im there but it would be a weight off my mind!

What city is it? What skills do you have?

i've only ever worked in retail or in low skilled jobs in hospitals etc so that's what i'd be looking for

I’m in a similar situation - applying for jobs a couple of hours away and having to take half days leave from my current job.

They always seem to have retail jobs advertised so hopefully you’ll get something once you move!

Quite a lot of companies will let you transfer if they have a store in an area you are moving to, if you are working now, but if you are applying 'fresh' then I suspect you'd have to go to the store employing you for any interview.
The bigger shops tend to advertise on line though, so at least you can job hunt and apply before going.
