To think this reviewer is being a drama llama?

Looking for a UK holiday to take the kid's away for a bit in the school holidays.

This place looks ok so browing through the reviews and found this:

"We couldn’t go to the bar for 2 nights as they had ran out of Diet Coke which is what I drink as I don’t drink alcohol, I was told if I brought my own in they would take it off me, so we didn’t bother going in, on our last night they had Diet Coke a bit late then."

Honestly. I mean, I get that Diet Coke is a staple, but "couldn't go to the bar for two nights".

Maybe I'm being harsh, but do they sound like hard work to you?

Yeah that's ridiculous, just drink water if your favourite fizzy drink isn't there. Sounds like a massive child.

PassiveAgressiveQueen · 14/01/2018 22:53

oh diddums did the ickle people have to stay in their villa, or leave the hotel?

TheQueenOfWands · 14/01/2018 22:55

What did they do instead?

Did they sit on the step to warn other possible patrons of the sad lack of Diet Coke?

Mumto2two · 14/01/2018 22:56

Geez..bet they had a great holiday Grin

Celticlassie · 14/01/2018 22:59

For some personal people Diet Coke is very important. I have a friend who carries a can everywhere in case they don't have it. Don't get it myself.

fourandnomore · 14/01/2018 23:00

That's brilliant. Imagine being incapable of drinking anything but Diet Coke forever more. Grin I once read a really bad review from someone that claimed their holiday had been ruined as the hotel didn't serve fried eggs and there were only 2 English tv channels. Cracked me up, we thought it sounded like our kind of place!

mumpoints · 14/01/2018 23:01
  1. The reviewer is a drama llama
  2. If they could get Diet Coke from elsewhere, why couldn't the hotel?
Bluemugajug · 14/01/2018 23:02

I read a brilliant one yesterday.

There were ants on his decking.

Some German teenagers were pissed.

His son asked him if it was “that Afghanistan place off the news”

And his 6 year old son launched himself into a pool with no warning and it was SO COLD the nurse had to wrap him up in TIN FOIL and he was in bed for TWO DAYS. It was the South of France in July so I’m struggling to see how it was that cold tbh.....

GreyFluffball · 14/01/2018 23:02

I know someone who only drinks Diet Coke. Nothing else. Even for breakfast. Always has a case in the boot of each of the family cars.

KungFuEric · 14/01/2018 23:03

Why do they care so much about sitting in a bar if all they'll drink is Diet Coke?

Pancakeflipper · 14/01/2018 23:03

When a holiday venue not having diet coke for a few days ruins your hols - it is time to get help from fizzydrinks.anon

There is something lovely about complaining about 'foreigners' abroad Hmm

Glumglowworm · 14/01/2018 23:09

I’m a total Diet Coke addict. But if I they didn’t have it I would drink something else especially if I could get it elsewhere during the day for my fix

Leigha3 · 14/01/2018 23:09

First world problems. 😂

PennyBBT · 14/01/2018 23:15

Ergh that review sounds very snobby x

steff13 · 14/01/2018 23:17

Well, yes, the reviewer was being a bit dramatic. The bar probably had lots of non-alcoholic options (juice, seltzer, etc.). But if they were out of diet Coke, they should have gotten some, at a grocery store if necessary. I can see how it might be indicative of a larger issue. It's not amazing customer service, is it?

Missingstreetlife · 14/01/2018 23:17

Check your bone density, Diet Coke v bad for you

Frillyhorseyknickers · 14/01/2018 23:18

It would be a genuine issue if you replace Diet Coke with white wine, but coke? Wankers.

ReanimatedSGB · 14/01/2018 23:21

Meh. So many 'reviewers' are just bucketheads.

RebeccaCloud9 · 14/01/2018 23:24

@bluemugajug I would have agreed with you re the freezing pool until we went on hols to Italy in July - the outdoor unheated pool was so cold we went blue and numb after a minute. Brrrr!

HickDead · 14/01/2018 23:26

I was at an all inclusive resort on one of the Balearic Islands and from what I saw on that holiday, I’m sad to say that that review doesn’t surprise me! Overheard a man having a go at the waiter as we’d been served up “Spanish muck” 2 nights in a row. You just have to shake your head sometimes.

Missingstreetlife · 14/01/2018 23:28

Once stayed in v posh hotel for a wedding
At breakfast they had no marmalade
We survived

DreamyMcDreamy · 14/01/2018 23:29

Grin (also cold sweats at the thought of a bar not having white wine) Diet Coke though? I need my fix of that as well but surely there's somewhere nearby that you could stock up and bring your own...
Even if there's not, surely on a night out there's something else soft that you could drink.
Some reviewers are hilarious, I swear some of them just moan for the sake of moaning.
I remember reading one a while back complaining about the lack of English food and it was all "foreign."
You're in frickin' Spain, what do you expect?! Grin
Knobbers

Yanbu. Poor thing.

TattyCat · 14/01/2018 23:39

I find reviews amusing, most of the time. It used to be useful, before all the dimwits started using it. I always read the one, two and three star reviews, ignoring the 4 and 5. If the reviews are whinging about car parking availability or location etc then I'll ignore on the basis that the reviewer is a bit of a fuckwit for not checking beforehand. All that information is generally available if you're of sound mind...

Reviews about an item being off the menu one evening, or the car park being full, or the bar down the road having a bit of a party are pointless. What is an establishment to do about that, exactly?
