Child A is known to 'pick on' child B.

Child B is a vulnerable student with autism and other LD.

Whilst using a school system which they access through phones Child A types in his username as

"Child B is autistic"

All this comes up on screen and teacher deleted.

Child A then retypes

"Child B autism boy"

Removed again and told it's not funny so Child A types

"Child B is a spastic"

He was then kicked off permanently.

What sort of punishment would you expect the child to have had?
Do you think the child should have been allowed a second go and then a third?

There is no moderate opinion when it comes to calling someone a spastic. And my money's on disability hate crime being one of the lowest reported and dealt with of all hate crime so the figures are hardly likely to be skewed.

It is a hate crime because legally it's defined as that.

Whether this lad intends for his actions to be criminal or whether he understands they are are another matter.

But when it comes to racist language they don't question intent or understanding. This is what I struggle with.

I have no idea what punishment I'd expect. I guess I would have hoped it would have been equal at least to punishment I know has been handed out for racism - which I'll add wasn't intentional and was someone with SN.

I was asking here because My view on it all can become screed due to history with other school.
