Primark PJs destoyed my sheets!

I don't normally wear pyjamas in bed but I've been plagued by insomnia and having a regular bedtime routine was suggested - a relaxing bath then taking some time to wind down. Not wanting to traumatise DS and his friends with the sight of me in my nightdress, nor for the cat to use my bare legs as a pin cushion, a couple of months ago I decided to buy some PJs in Primark to wear post bath before bed.

They were great. They looked fantastic, a plain black jersey V-neck top with wide leg pants with velvet trim. They were comfy. They washed well, no need to iron them, they came out of the washing machine creaseless. My legs have not been scratched to pieces and no one has been blinded by my white legs. All good.

Until this week... I've spent the week home alone in bed with flu. With no one else to tackle the laundry mountain, after several sleepless, sweaty nights, I was out out of clean nightwear so I resorted to wearing the Primark pyjamas in bed. The next morning, my beautiful white 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets had been turned into a filthy looking, grey stained mess Angry

I've tried washing them with colour run remover but it's done nothing Sad The stained part is still grey. Not just a bit grey, the same colour as DS's actual grey bedsheets.

AIBU to think that pyjamas that you can't actually wear in bed without staining your sheets aren't fit for purpose? Angry Angry Angry

To launder them, not to dry them

AmateurPrepper Troy was my darling cat who died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy aged 5. It was when I googled his illness MN The Litter Tray popped up. He had a brother called Barnaby who was killed by a car. Both were named after characters in Midsomer Murders.

Wash them on a really hot wash with a cup of bleach in the drawer and no powder / liquid. They should come out sparkling white.

I did this to a nice white tablecloth that had a massive red wine stain from Xmas dinner. Good as new.

Might need a couple of extra rinses to get rid of bleach smell.

Can I share a sheet woe? Have been smugly chuffed with my flannelette sheet for vastly improving my temp at night! Unfortunately it has become threadbare after only washing it twice!!
After speaking about sheets to a customer I am very very miffed to discover she has sheets from before her wedding still on the go.
Married over 50 years!!
Gutted.

This is why I always buy white or pastel pajamas.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 13/01/2019 23:04

I have read about this problem before on MN, which won't help you OP, but you are not alone.

Pyjamas that you can't use in bed don't sound like a good purchase, unless they are not intended to be worn in bed.

It's been over a YEAR! I'm sure OP has bought new bedding by now. Zombie thread people, come on!!

RedForShort · 13/01/2019 23:13

What I don't get is there's an actual message on a zombie thread telling you it's an old thread and maybe you don't want to post. So even if you reach it via Google you'd know.

Not too sure why this be a Google search though: 'do Primark pjs ruin a squillion thread cotton sheets'

Norfolkenchancemate · 13/01/2019 23:59

@newnamenewnamenewname look for some napisan, gets everything white again! Cup full in the wash with your normal powder should do the trick, or soak the sheets in it.
