Primark PJs destoyed my sheets!

I don't normally wear pyjamas in bed but I've been plagued by insomnia and having a regular bedtime routine was suggested - a relaxing bath then taking some time to wind down. Not wanting to traumatise DS and his friends with the sight of me in my nightdress, nor for the cat to use my bare legs as a pin cushion, a couple of months ago I decided to buy some PJs in Primark to wear post bath before bed.

They were great. They looked fantastic, a plain black jersey V-neck top with wide leg pants with velvet trim. They were comfy. They washed well, no need to iron them, they came out of the washing machine creaseless. My legs have not been scratched to pieces and no one has been blinded by my white legs. All good.

Until this week... I've spent the week home alone in bed with flu. With no one else to tackle the laundry mountain, after several sleepless, sweaty nights, I was out out of clean nightwear so I resorted to wearing the Primark pyjamas in bed. The next morning, my beautiful white 1200 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets had been turned into a filthy looking, grey stained mess Angry

I've tried washing them with colour run remover but it's done nothing Sad The stained part is still grey. Not just a bit grey, the same colour as DS's actual grey bedsheets.

AIBU to think that pyjamas that you can't actually wear in bed without staining your sheets aren't fit for purpose? Angry Angry Angry

After seeing people in the 'irritations when staying at someone's house' thread slag off people who didn't have luxury bedding, I find this thread very funny. You wouldn't be so bothered if your bed clothes were also from Primark.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 14/01/2018 01:10

Hollowtree if that is you being bitchy I'd love to be your friend Grin

elliejjtiny · 14/01/2018 01:10

That happened to my pink primark dressing gown when my waters broke in hospital Blush.

IvorBiggun · 14/01/2018 01:13

I’d bleach the sheet then take it back to JL.

BattleCuntGalactica · 14/01/2018 01:15

Who the bloody hell irons pyjamas?!

Procrastination4 · 14/01/2018 01:24

**Crème, I had a similar experience with M&S blue pjs-or rather, my husband had. The white sheets turned a slight blue where he was sleeping on them in his dark blue pjs. Gah!

hollowtree · 14/01/2018 01:41

hearts we can be friends 😊

Charolais · 14/01/2018 02:19

If the sheets are white surely you can dump a load of bleach in the washing machine. That’s what I’d do.

RedWineAllMine · 14/01/2018 02:51

No one irons pjs you say...my sister irons the bedding!... ain't nobody got time for that?! Shock
The cure is simple, don't wear them for bed. Think of them as lounge wear then take them off. I don't wear anything for bed. I used to.. Ive gone from a sweating hot mess to being super cool between the sheets and sleeping better.

BattleCuntGalactica · 14/01/2018 03:15

FIFTY SHEETS OF GREY.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 14/01/2018 09:20

Oh dear, I hope it wasn't the Milton that dissolved your sheets...if so I a, sorry for the awful advice!

QueenThisTime · 14/01/2018 15:43

I had a YSH! I went out and bought fancy bedclothes in celebration when we separated. Before, I bought some brown, yes BROWN bedding because the YSH issue was getting me down so much. It was still happening but I didn't have to see the evidence daily.

Love my bed now.

QueenThisTime · 14/01/2018 15:44

Re the sheets, I don't think it matters - tell primark the whole story. You tried everything to get rid of the stain, to the point you have destroyed your sheets. The worst that can happen is they say no.

newnamenewnamenewname · 14/01/2018 17:31

@Tawdrylocalbrouhaha

Don't worry! I'm sure it wasn't the Milton. There is a big worn down area. If it had been the Milton, it wouldn't have been so localised.

Besides which, they were already pretty much ruined by the stain anyway, so they would have been relegated to "last resort emergency sheets". It would have been like sleeping next to the ghost of NSTBX YSH! Grin

Bizarre how dye that comes off so easily from one thing is so hard to shift from another. Different fabrics, I guess...

BattleCunt - I won't leave you hanging man, I SEE what you did there ....!!!

britneybunny24 · 13/01/2019 11:17

This always happens with primark clothes. Everytime I buy jeans from there my legs are blue and my couch etc is blue. Luckily I have throws. I recently bought black pjs from there and guess what, Woke up with blue finger nails and blue bed sheets. Never ever going there again. Rather pay and bit extra and go to h&m, Zara or Riverisland. Never had a problem with theirs

Yearofthemum · 13/01/2019 11:31

We bought high street jeggings for DD some years ago (not primark) and they ruined her brand new pale beige carpet. The dye transferred because she and her friends frequently sat on the floor.

Meangirls36 · 13/01/2019 18:37

I had seasalt socks for Xmas and they got fluff absolutely everywhere all over the floors the carpet and the sheets

ForalltheSaints · 13/01/2019 18:57

OP you should have gone somewhere other than Primark. Their cheap rubbish should have not surprised you to have caused some issue.

At least you did not die or be seriously injured unlike some of those who make their clothes.

Thewifipasswordis · 13/01/2019 19:01

Get some dylon in a slightly darker shade than the grey stains and dye your sheet 🤷🏼‍♀️ it's what I do.

TroysMammy · 13/01/2019 19:03

I'm sure I've read this disaster on MN before.

AmateurPrepper · 13/01/2019 19:07

Another zombie thread. How do people find stuff that's so old? And why do @mnhq leave them unlocked to be bumped?

TroysMammy · 13/01/2019 20:43

To be fair the date of the original post is a year ago today. Obviously 2019 isn't registering yet. I knew I'd read it before. Grin

AmateurPrepper · 13/01/2019 20:50

That's fair crack @TroysMammy, it's more how it was dug up in the first place and why it's not locked already.

You got a dc called Troy btw? Love that name, wish I'd used it.

coconutwheel · 13/01/2019 21:05

Perhaps try taking the sheets to a laundry or dry cleaner where they send them to a commercial laundry to dry them - they go pretty hard on the whites and they come out well.
