Cancelling an item on eBay.

Prepared to get flamed for this! But would you consider cancelling an item you sold on eBay if an identical item sold one hour after it for double the price your one sold for?! And we are not talking a few pounds either!... Wibu?? (It's not been paid for yet if that makes a difference)

Was it a 'collection in person' item? For both of them? This often affects the price greatly.

bingbongnoise · 13/01/2018 21:21

@ThisLittleKitty

Didn't know you could even do that! (Cancel a sale after it's sold!!!!)

And it's pretty nasty tbh. What lie are you planning on spinning to 'cancel' the sale?! Hmm

I have bought stuff before and never received said item. I complained to seller who instantly gave me a refund. Bit odd.

Then a few days later, guess what..... the item re-appears with the same seller, (at a higher price obvs!) and they claim they suddenly found another one. So I ask why they never offered me the chance to have it (for the price I paid obviously!)

Never get a reply.

Bastards. Hmm

If you do do this dirty trick, I hope the (new) buyer doesn't get the item, and you have to refund in full, and lose the money.

Mean of me? Not as mean as what you're planning. Hmm

Well at least I will cancel it before the person has paid therefore not lost anything.

fairgame84 · 13/01/2018 21:21

Sounds like you've already made up your mind.

bingbongnoise · 13/01/2018 21:23

Well at least I will cancel it before the person has paid therefore not lost anything.

Loada shit. Stop trying to justify yourself! Hmm

Why bother posting on here? You have obviously already decided to fuck the buyer over. As I said; I hope the new buyer doesn't get the item and you have to refund, and lose your £80. Would serve you right.

ThisLittleKitty · 13/01/2018 21:24

Was gonna say I've misplaced it. Was both postage. There's was slightly lower than mine but I went with the suggestion from eBay for postage cost. And only lower by £1.20

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 13/01/2018 21:24

No. Really unethical.

JeReviens · 13/01/2018 21:24

Shame on you then OP. Why did you bother asking?
Ebay ‘sellers’ like you make me fucking sick.

bingbongnoise · 13/01/2018 21:25

Oh dear.

ThisLittleKitty · 13/01/2018 21:25

I haven't already decided. Who wouldn't be annoyed at an item going for double the price of there one?

OP posts:
JeReviens · 13/01/2018 21:25

Misplaced it? Oh that IS original. Take you long to think it up?

ThisLittleKitty · 13/01/2018 21:25

Just wanted to know if others would do it.

OP posts:
ilovesooty · 13/01/2018 21:26

,
misplaced it

Oldest con trick going.

Tuttytoffee · 13/01/2018 21:28

Why are you even asking if you know your decision is already made. Karma always finds a way to bite you on the arse. Don't be surprised if it goes for lower or even not at all due to negative feedback. You say the buyer hasn't paid yet, you may get lucky in that they decide they don't want it and don't pay at all. After opening an unpaid case you could then relist once it's been closed. Cancelling to try and get more is not on. Especially given it's the 1st thing you've sold.

RainbowPastel · 13/01/2018 21:29

No it's dishonest. That's the risk you take with an auction.

MistyMeena · 13/01/2018 21:30

If it's your first time selling on eBay then that's probably why. Sellers with good seller feedback will attract higher bids.

Would be a crappy thing to do and buyer could report you I think.

buckeejit · 13/01/2018 21:30

YABU. Thems the breaks. For next time, schedule yours to end at shortly after 8pm on a Sunday as that's the best time. I always forget about auctions that end at e.g. 3pm on a Sat. However sometimes things don't work out & you win some, you lose some

ilovesooty · 13/01/2018 21:30

I hope you don't continue selling. You're seemingly not the sort of seller anyone decent wants to do business with.

SpottyGecko · 13/01/2018 21:31

Ah, I missed that this was your first sale.

High value item, no previous sales, one photo - I'd be put off bidding on your item.

ThisLittleKitty · 13/01/2018 21:32

Ok ok I wont cancel. Must admit I was happy with the price till I noticed that the other went for double and thought what the heck! But maybe as has been said they are an experienced seller and have lots of feedback where as it's the first time I'm selling something.

OP posts:
December11 · 13/01/2018 21:34

No I wouldnt cancel the transaction, chalk it up to experience

londonrach · 13/01/2018 21:34

Op...you do realise if its the first item youve sold youve no track record so hence why is sold for less. You lucky it sold. Next time if it sells it sell for less. You deserve that! Enjoy.

Snowysky20009 · 13/01/2018 21:39

I had s seller do this too me. I won a PlayStation psp. It went for half the normal price. Then get an email saying they cant send it so I left negative feedback saying they would not send after winning.

Had a shitty email a few weeks later because they couldn't sell it, because of their feedback- their loss!!

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 13/01/2018 21:39

So you're planning to say you've misplaced it and then re-list at a higher buy it now price? Has it occurred to your that the buyer whose transaction you are about to cancel will still be searching for said item and will realise what you've done when they see the same item from the same seller? In which case: 1) anyone with any common sense will report you to eBay, and 2) I believe you can still leave feedback even if the transaction is cancelled so that'll be a negative feedback for you. And 3) it's dishonest anyway. Chalk it down to experience and take more time over your listings next time. You win some and you lose some.

ilovesooty · 13/01/2018 21:40

The OP has now said she won't cancel.

Snowysky20009 · 13/01/2018 21:42

Just to say there are some brilliant sellers out there. I won a bag of baby clothes. Seller offered to put in a few extras that had small stains. I explained they were for my neighbour who was fostering and had very little in this size. The seller sent 3 extra bags of clothing for him. I offered to pay but she wouldn't accept it. What a wonderful and kind thing to do.
