To not let me kids go out with Nan tomorrow?

My dd aged 3 is due to have her pre assessment at the hospital tomorrow. She is booked to have tonsils and adenoids out Wednesday.

I asked my mum to have my two older ds’s whilst we went which she agreed and booked a trip out. Whilst texting about times she mentioned she booked to go out to get away from my dad.

I thought maybe he was grumpy/tired etc so phoned to ask if all ok. My mum has said she thinks dad has the flu had temp 38, nose streaming, coughing and has taken today off work and spent it in bed (I have never known my dad take the day off work sick ever).

I mentioned to dh I felt uneasy sending them as mum could be contagious and last thing we need with dd due an op and don’t want any complications post op. Dh says I’m over reacting and as mum says she’s fine they should go. He thinks they won’t catch it.

Do you think IABU if I dont send them? Confused

Not unreasonable at all.

The typical incubation period for influenza is 1—4 days (average: 2 days). Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick.

Nope. Not worth the risk.

Thank you, for your comments. I was starting to think may I was getting paranoid about it as I am anxious about the op anyway.

I will let mum know that it’s best for her not to have them. Bit of a pain as she was due to have them again night before the op as got to be in early and she lives close to both the school. Oh well.

Definitely not worth the risk. You're doing the right thing.

Thank you, felt bad telling my mum as almost felt like I was condemning her to getting the flu Sad as the reason for not sending them.
