AIBU to still have hope? Bleeding at 5 weeks pregnant :(

I got my BFP on Monday and since then have had more and more pregnancy symptoms, including sore boobs, nausea, feeling exhausted (went to sleep at 8pm last night!) and needing to wee about 10 times a day! However, unfortunately I have also had pink spotting, which this morning has progressed into splotches of red blood :( (it's Friday morning where I am and I'm 5 weeks tomorrow.)

I have already had 2 MCs, both at 6 weeks although one was an MMC and I didn't find out until 8 weeks, and am so desperate to hold on to this little one. Honestly, do you think I should give up hope? I had bloods taken on Monday and am going for another blood test today to see if my HCG levels have been rising, but should I expect that the results will be negative? Please help, I'm scared :(

The midwife told me Its a problem when you start passing clots. Hope that's not the case x

Lalliella · 12/01/2018 00:15

Flowers for you and hand hold. I lost my first two babies at 8 weeks, and had bleeding during my 3rd and 4th pregnancies which both produced healthy babies, quite a lot of blood in the case of my 3rd, more than you have had. Fingers crossed it will be 3rd time lucky for you too, and 4th too xx

Cuddlesandcannulas · 12/01/2018 00:19

I had bleeding for a 6 days weeks 5-6, then a further week of on-off bleeding. It was reddy brown blood that I needed a pant liner for, but not a sanitary towel. That pregnancy was successful and he's a healthy 2 year old now.

Bleeding doesn't always mean a miscarriage. I hope that's the case for you this time. x

My wife had had a miscarriage and then we got pregnant again. She was bleeding and the doctor said that he was sure she had miscarried again. We went in to hospital for an Ultrasound, just to confirm but there she was, my dd, despite all.

Dw had bedrest for a couole of weeks, but we now have a gorgeous doughter in her 20s (and two younger sons)

Don't give up hope

I had bleeding for the first three months when my period would have been due. It was more than I would have expected and panicked, but everything turned out ok. Sending hugs and hope everything is ok for you.

Itscurtainsforyou · 12/01/2018 00:32

I had varying amounts of bleeding in pregnancy, including a really heavy bleed at 13w that turned out ok. In my last pregnancy once they saw a heartbeat (& all was in the right place, so not ectopic ) I was given hcg injections to try to sustain it.

I hope you get your answer tomorrow.

thegreatbeyond · 12/01/2018 01:59

I bled like you described at 6 weeks. Then brown until 9 wks. Lovely 15 m old ds is fine!

Secretlifeofme · 12/01/2018 03:37

Update - after a few hours I still only have little drops of blood but it hasn't stopped completely :(

With DS1 I had period style level bleeding off and on for about 2 weeks at 5/6 weeks pg. It continued off and on with another quite heavy bleed at 12 weeks and nearly 20 weeks.
He’s 3 now.
Fingers crossed for you Flowers

Best of luck OP

OK I am on my way to the doctors now! It's 2.40pm here and I've been wearing a pad all day to see how much blood was there and in total since 6am I would say it's about a teaspoon or maybe a tiny bit more. However it is red blood. Do you think this is bad? I am driving myself mad googling!.(

The truth is that only time will tell. We can’t tell you what will happen and neither can your doctor. I’ve had bleeding in both of my successful pregnancies. I hope it all works out.

peachgreen · 12/01/2018 06:51

Thinking of you OP. The midwives always said to me that red blood, while not a good sign, isn't always a bad sign if you see what I mean. Lots of women have red bleeding and go on to have a healthy baby - but equally unfortunately many don't. I had bleeding in both pregnancies - one I went on to miscarry and the other is progressing well. As awful as it is - and I remember well how agonising that uncertainty and waiting was - there's just no way to know. I wish I could fast forward time for you, my heart goes out to you. Thanks

Secretlifeofme · 12/01/2018 06:56

Thank you so much. I'll update later :)

I had some bleeding with dd too at around a similar time. It lasted a couple of days. I thought I was having a mc, rang my midwife and told it was implantation bleeding. She didn't seem very concerned and I wasn't even offered a scan. All was fine. Good luck op.

lovewatchingrainfall · 12/01/2018 06:59

Hope all goes okay. I had a full on bleed with my youngest and she is now currently running around pulling my books off the shelf

Hope it is good outcome for you.

Secretlifeofme · 12/01/2018 07:00

All these positive stories are giving me hope, thank you! However I am trying to be sensible and expect the worst too. It's so hard! My thoughts are with all of you who have experienced losses Flowers

Holding your hand Flowers
Both my SILs had heavy bleeding early in pregnancy and both had healthy babies. So it may not be the worse case scenario big unmumsnetty hug

shockthemonkey · 12/01/2018 07:11

I hope it all turns out fine, OP.

I had heavier bleeding than this (same type of blood though, pinkish to red...) for two pregnancies, one of which ended in miscarriage and one of which resulted in my strapping DS1.

So there's no way of telling, just stay positive!

londonrach · 12/01/2018 07:12

My friend bleed badly but now has a healthy one year old. Holding yoyr and x
