To be mad over a cake?

So dh turned 30 today, and I did my best to make it a special day for him, despite not having a great deal of money after Christmas.
I ordered him a simple cake with a design of something he loves and had it personalised. Posted a photo on fb of dh blowing out his candles with ds, was a lovely moment to share, and one of my friends has commented below with a photo of the cake she got her dh the year before, same type of design only much, much better! (think 3 tier, extras on top, etc)
No comment to go with it, just the photo. I replied back with "Gee thanks!" but no reply from her.
AIBU to feel annoyed? Or is it the fact that I was up most of the night, feel horrible with a throat and ear infection, and I'm just being a grouchy mare? 🙈😅

What a weird reply of her. Confused

Whiterabbitears · 07/01/2018 20:04

I would take it the same way as you OP, can you comment saying "bet mine tastes better" or something with a wink, naff I know, so she knows you know what she's doing. I probably wouldn't defriend but I would think she is a bit of a twat from now on.

CrackersForlt · 07/01/2018 20:06

Maybe she felt you had copied her idea, and her nose was out of joint?

thelastredwinegum · 07/01/2018 20:06

If you had an elephant, she'd have a box to keep it in.

Sweetpea55 · 07/01/2018 20:27

She could have just said. 'oh I got a similar cake'
There was no need to put a photo on. Showy off cow

Gosh I wouldn't be offended at all! To me it appears she's saying, "hey look, we got the same fab cake!"

You enjoyed a lovely moment with your DH & DS. You don't need that authentic feeling validated by FB.

I find it a bit strange that she posted that but without knowing more it’s hard to tell whether she was bragging or whether she was just being tactless and thought you’d be amused by the similar cakes.

I find it more strange that this bothers you so much. You said it was a lovely moment, surely that’s what matters? Who cares what someone else’s cake looked like? It’s just a cake!
