To ask if you have ever smelt the floss after brushing your teeth?!

Only on mumsnet can you ask this question right?!

I've started flossing regularly after dentist told me I need to floss more. He told me to smell the floss after I've flossed and that will give me an indication as to why it is so important to floss.

I've smelt it and quite frankly I was nearly sick 🤢🤢🤢🤢

I am now really embarrassed that I've probably been walking around with bad breath for the last 10 years and no one has told me Blush

Yes, I do as well as interdentals. If it smells, you should keep targeting the area. It's unlikely you'd have bad breathe though if you've been flossing!

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 · 07/01/2018 10:09

Yeah it stinks!!

Melfish · 07/01/2018 10:09

Oh yes! It's gross!!

letsdolunch321 · 07/01/2018 10:10

It is vile Envy

MoistCantaloupe · 07/01/2018 10:13

oh, maybe I was wrong that you should keep targeting the area then. Perhaps thats just for interdentals!

PenelopeFlintstone · 07/01/2018 10:19

You're right to check the interdentals, and after a little while they won't anymore. I dip them in toothpaste (not the tube).

Think how bad your mouth tastes when you've just flossed and before you've rinsed - much worse than when you left it all undisturbed. If you want to console yourself, think of what the average pond smells like undisturbed, and then what it smells like when your dog has romped in it.

JustDanceAddict · 07/01/2018 10:20

YUp, gross.

Fatbadger · 07/01/2018 10:20

mere that's made me laugh out loud 😂

This is why i now religiously use my Tepe brushes. ITs so grim otherwise!

I can’t stand the sensation of flossing but i can use the brushes.

Leviticus · 07/01/2018 10:33

I can tell when people don't floss for this exact reason, it's a very distinctive smell.

There are always people on here that insist they have lovely breath despite not flossing. I don't believe it!

hungryhippo90 · 07/01/2018 10:43

Wow thank you! This is a great way to know if DD has actually flossed, she has the interdental harps that never look like she’s used them.... but if I smell it, it should smell?

Thanks!

Sorry to derail!
