I’m 43. I’ve always wanted to done. It’s definite mid life crisis territory.
Aibu to think tacky & tragic or can I get away with it? I’m feeling pretty fuck it ‘you only life once’ in my mid life crisis phase! Grin

What would your work think?

lynmilne65 · 07/01/2018 08:26

my 45 year old daughter has a tiny silver one, it's pretty

CheshireChat · 07/01/2018 13:33

This thread really makes me want to get a nose piercing- and it's my name day so it's the perfect excuse. Hmmm Wink.

Kenworthington · 07/01/2018 13:36

I’m 42 and have my nose pierced and also wear a septum ring. I love it

I’ve also LOTS of tattoos.

Myheartbelongsto · 07/01/2018 13:49

Sorry op, I think they look tacky but do what makes you happy. Most women I see with nose rings tend to have that washed out red hair too for some reason.

TheHeraldOfAndraste · 07/01/2018 13:52

I have blue streaks. Dark navy and purple. I wanted silver and lilac but I have Indian hair and my stylist advised against it.

Also have a few tattoos - a new one booked for next Saturday in fact- and am tempted to get my nose repierced thanks to this thread.

facedontfit · 07/01/2018 14:22

Had mine pierced at 14 did it myself, old punk, still wear it occasionally - I'm 53.

Polopolopolo · 07/01/2018 17:53

I have my nose pierced both sides, my ears, tongue, genitals and nipple. I did have my belly button pierced but I took it out after my third baby.

P. S I don't have washed out red hair Wink

squoosh · 07/01/2018 17:59

How painful is it to have your genitals pierced? I have a wibble and involuntarily squeeze my thighs together even thinking about it!

SuperDandy · 07/01/2018 18:14

46, had it since I was 20, and I have an L shape with a tiny flat silver dot.

Anyone wants to judge me for that go right ahead, and I can cross you off the list if people in whom I have any interest.

SuperDandy · 07/01/2018 18:15

I get mine made at a local jeweller because I can never find any I like. V cheap, and made to fit my nose just right.

VelvetSpoon · 07/01/2018 18:22

My bf loves nose studs , he thinks they look fab on women and would be over the moon if I got one. However at 45 and in a professional role I don't really think it would be a good idea for me!

toconclude · 07/01/2018 19:10

"Love it when over 40s say they rock it!!! (and they really don't!!!!)"
Gosh, amazing how younger people automatically know what people they have never met look like.

Still rockin' it and there is nothing you can do about it. Sorry to disappoint. Not.

ColinsVeryJolly · 07/01/2018 19:12

My teeny, tiny purple gem stud.

I wear a diamanté one on special occasions.

I'm thinking of a thin, close fitting hoop but had the 'am I too old?' panic. Think I'll go for it now after reading this thread.

My aunty is mid fifties and works in a professional role. She had hers done recently, as well as a few extra ear ones. And a couple of tattoos.

No such thing as too old.

pullingmyhairout1 · 07/01/2018 19:20

Ffs OP seriously if you want it done do it. Sod everyone else. As long as you're not hurting anyone else who cares.

For anyone mocking over 40s getting tattoos and having piercings. I am 40. I have been having tats and piercings done since I was 18. My hair colour is natural. As is the rest of my body. What piercings and tattoos I have is not really your concern is it?

clueless2010 · 07/01/2018 19:24

Never too old! Life is too short..go for it!!

RainbowDashed · 07/01/2018 19:56

I had mine done as a teenager, loved it, it had to come out when I worked in a food factory as facial piercings aren't allowed in case they fall out.

Now I'm 43, no longer working in a food factory. I had my tragus and cartilage done but not my nose as I wasn't sure it would be acceptable, my ear piercings are covered by hair so not obvious. One of our senior managers had hers done recently so I'm off to get mine done again asap.

Which is a long winded way of saying, fuck it, why not Grin

Georgyt · 28/07/2019 14:11

Never too old and you only have one life. We a both in our late 50s and up until a few yeas ago my wife wore a nose stud. Anyway it fell out and I was devastated as I thought it looked great, and trendy too. We are about to renew our wedding vows and she dropped a bombshell that she wants her new wedding ring through her septum then have it closed so it stays permanently. But she wants it to make a statement and be noticeable.. so go for it ladies. I'm really looking forward to it

Georgyt · 28/07/2019 14:15

PS
She has some tattoos from her younger days and now wants a full sleeve. Even talked about shaving her head and tattooing it. She has the view now of fuck it, sick of playing by norms. As for me, I say you go girl, very proud of you and what ever you decide

SmellbowSmellbow123 · 28/07/2019 14:52

My mum had hers done at 61, along with a tattoo of Pooh Bear..... wonders if it was part of a midlife crisis!

TravellingSpoon · 28/07/2019 15:00

I have mine done and wear a silver hughie (think a really small version of a belly button bar). Have had it for around 8 years and I love it.

Sugarformyhoney · 28/07/2019 17:39

I have a nose stud and I love it. Lots of my middle age friends do too. They look lovely- go for it

Chunkers · 28/07/2019 17:44

You could get a magnetic nose stud and wear that for a wee while, ‘catching’ yourself in the mirror to see if you like it before committing?
