I’m 43. I’ve always wanted to done. It’s definite mid life crisis territory.
Aibu to think tacky & tragic or can I get away with it? I’m feeling pretty fuck it ‘you only life once’ in my mid life crisis phase! Grin

Im 52 and wear a silver ring in my nose. I have multiple piercings all up my ears. I have tattoos and very short spiky magenta coloured hair.

I give zero fcks what people think and I live in a very conservative American town and stick out like a sore thumb.

Id say go for it Grin

Mrsmadevans · 06/01/2018 22:41

I think it is lovely if you have a nice nose but sometimes you can look like Miss Piggy which is why I would never have mine done . I look like Miss Piggy before the piercing let alone after it, also I don't like to draw attention to my enormous snout but if you ant it done then go for it !

GertieMotherwell · 06/01/2018 22:41

My DD had one.
We were called in for a meeting about her submitting work late at college
Both her progress coach and Head of Department had one too Grin

DD came home and immediately removed hers. It’s ‘middleage trying to be trendy’ around here.

JacquesHammer · 06/01/2018 22:45

Get some blue steaks in your hair too to show your individuality

God no, blue isn't my colour.

Pink all the way here.

KC225 · 06/01/2018 22:45

There will be a couple of spine shivers, as I was loud and proud about my loathing of tattoos, but go and have it done. At 43, its not exactly anrash decision. Treat yourself. New year and New You.

chicken75 · 07/01/2018 00:25

In my opinion.. it hurt like he'll with a needle but Im a total wuss. It also bled a lot but I don't regret it. I do regret my first nose piercing (the other side), done with a gun, pain free but massive scar.

IlikemyTeahot · 07/01/2018 00:27

Do it!

WorraLiberty · 07/01/2018 00:28

Oooh I haven't seen anyone with a nose piercing for years but I love them.

Hate the rings but love the little studs.

You should do it and don't give your age another thought.

ColinsVeryJolly · 07/01/2018 00:35

I'm 37 and wear a tiny nose stud.

I had it pierced for £5 at 17 in the back room of a dodgy hippy type shop with a probably very dirty gun.

I had a bit of a break from wearing a nose stud in my early 30s but started again a couple of years ago. I think it adds interest to my rather plain face.

StillSeekingResponsibleAdult · 07/01/2018 00:37

I'm nearly 40, had mine since I was a teenager (14ish). I remember when I had it done thinking I'd get rid of it at 30... now thinking 50... or 60... or never...

Shootfirstaskquestionslater · 07/01/2018 00:38

Do it me and my mum got ours don't at the same time she was in her 50's. I love wearing a nose ring.

squoosh · 07/01/2018 00:39

I think nose studs can look lovely. If they're too tiny they can look like a zit though.

callmeadoctor · 07/01/2018 00:40

Love it when over 40s say they rock it!!! (and they really don't!!!!)

callmeadoctor · 07/01/2018 00:41

They just look sad! (and trying to be young and trendy!)

squoosh · 07/01/2018 00:42

That's a lot of explanation marks you're rocking there.

callmeadoctor · 07/01/2018 00:43

squoosh · 07/01/2018 00:44

*exclamation marks even!

Duh 😅

dontticklethetoad · 07/01/2018 00:48

jesus I completely agree! Just go for it OP. As pp have said, you can always take it out.

I had mine done in my late teens, but took it out when I went to uni in my early 20s, because I wanted to be 'taken seriously' Hmm
Then had it done again mid 20s for a year, but flicked the stud out and didn't have a spare so it closed up.
Had it done again last year at 35 and feel like me again. I alternate between 0.5mm stud and very fine rose gold hoop.

Bizarrely a lot of people didn't notice. And someone who I didn't know when I had it done previously said they thought I'd always had it! I must just suit it.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 07/01/2018 03:47

I can't get over thinking that noses are snotty and that it's a generally unhygenic thing to do.

BattleCuntGalactica · 07/01/2018 03:51

Pfffft. Just do it. You're never too old!

Khaleesi0 · 07/01/2018 03:51

Do it!

I'm 39, about to get mine done again. I have 2 lip piercings, 12 tattoos and my hair is currently blue, pink, purple and turquoise...

I guess I'm a little alternative, and also fall into the 'couldn't give a fuck' category!

AnnaBay · 07/01/2018 07:34

As I've got older, I've fallen deeper into the "couldn't give a fuck" category.
Hell, last week I wore Crocs clogs with a summer dress from Marks and Spencer's in public. Can't get more hardcore "couldn't give a fuck" than that.
I should add that I'm in the middle of the Australian summer not the UK winter. I'm not that hardcore.

ZoopDragon · 07/01/2018 07:35

I think it can look lovely if you have flawless skin and beautiful features.
Personally I wouldn't because I have a lot of freckles and prone to dry skin, and a nose stud would draw attention to this.

lljkk · 07/01/2018 08:16

Having pierced nose isn't only purview of alternative types. I don't have tats or other piercings other than ears (2 on each side, in lobe only).

I just knew pierced nose would suit me. I'm pretty conservative (small c). Kids have boring easy to spell names. I'm all for establishment interests. Sniffy about Jeremy Corbyn, home-ed & veganism. Loathe populism. Struggle to have an opinion on Royal Family. Hate govt debt (& know a lot about it!). I can talk mortgages with the best of them. I draw the line at interest in zoflora or pressure cookers, though (zzzzzzz).
