Happyhappyveggie · 06/01/2018 20:26

I’m 43. I’ve always wanted to done. It’s definite mid life crisis territory.
Aibu to think tacky & tragic or can I get away with it? I’m feeling pretty fuck it ‘you only life once’ in my mid life crisis phase! Grin

Tacky and tragic - as you ask

zukiecat · 06/01/2018 20:49

I don't have a nose piercing but I had my tragus done last year at age 50

Done at Claire's, with absolutely no problems whatsoever

I love it!

JacquesHammer · 06/01/2018 20:53

I've had mine done since I was 18. I'm now 38.

As with any piercing don't get it done at Claire's - get it done properly with a needle.

I found a tiny thin ring at Blue Banana

Elphame · 06/01/2018 21:18

I had mine done in my 40s. Definitely don’t get it done with a gun and tell the piercer if you want to wear a ring as the placement is a little different especially if you want the ring to be small and discreet.

I wear a diamond and gold stud in mine and love it

NoqontroI · 06/01/2018 21:20

Never too old. I've had one for 32 years.

fuzzywuzzy · 06/01/2018 21:21

I got mine when I was in my thirties.

Go for it.

Get it done by needle tho not piercing gun

JesusTapdancingChrist · 06/01/2018 21:23

Do it.

I had mine done in October (at 37 - how hideously tacky and tragic 😂) and love it. Honestly, it's made me feel more like me than ever before, like my face was always missing something! Have had nothing but compliments about how much it suits me, particularly from men!

Just bear in mind that it will take a long time to heal and you will get annoying bumps around the piercing site. Avoid touching/moving it as much as possible and just let it do it's thing.

Mycarsmellsoflavender · 06/01/2018 21:24

Same as davethecat - I'm also nearly 45 and had mine done when I was 20 ( and still have it). No tramp stamp though Grin

ChickenPaws · 06/01/2018 21:24

I got mine done when I was 45 and I love it. I just wear a tiny stud, but I’m glad I had it done. Just go for it. You can always ditch it once you’re an oap, or not Grin

LazyDailyMailJournos · 06/01/2018 21:34

Gosh I have a "tramp stamp" as well. How ever have I got through life holding down a professional role and being happily married for the last 12 years? I must have missed the memo that some tattoo ink on my lower back makes me 'less' in some way, shape or form...

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/01/2018 21:47

Of course YANBU. Nose piercing is not something I'd necessarily want myself, but it's your body and your choice. Your taste, your decision. Please yourself and be proud.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 06/01/2018 21:51

Got mine done for my 33rd Birthday. No regrets. Smile

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 06/01/2018 21:54

Totally what Jesus said-I feel like this is the face I was meant to have! It's definitely MY face now!

slapmyarseandcallmemary · 06/01/2018 21:58

Do it!! I have mine pierced, I'm 38. I don't think it's tacky at all!!

toconclude · 06/01/2018 22:00

Do iiiit. Had one for my 45th 12 years ago and still rockin' it

TooManyPaws · 06/01/2018 22:09

I see the sneerers are out again. I bet they can't wait for piercing/tattoo threads so they can come over all Hyacinth.

I've been considering getting my nose pierced for a stud for my birthday but maybe I should wait a couple of years till the big 6-oh for a bigger two fingers to judgypants wearers?

I've got my ears triple pierced and have had them like that since my early 20s. I've had tattoos done in the interim. Currently I'm wishing the grey in my hair would hurry up so I don't have the faff of bleaching waist-length hair before dying multi-colour in.

How painful is it with a needle compared to the gun? And what's the healing time like? The needle is the bit that's rather putting me off.

And, yes, I have a 'tramp stamp' though the expanse of exquisite, delicately coloured Scottish wild flowers across my lower back is anything but trampy.

Polopolopolo · 06/01/2018 22:13

I had my left side done 20 years ago and the other side pierced last year. A ring in one side and a small diamond stud in the other. Im 45.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 06/01/2018 22:27

TooMany it stings a bit but it's fine - and I have a very low pain threshold and hate needles.

You need a good piercing studio and someone with experience - and it will be all over in about 30 seconds. Your eyes might water a bit but that's it!

Nitrobetty1 · 06/01/2018 22:28

Why? And no. You’re a middle aged woman. Trying to get down with the yoof.
Get some blue steaks in your hair too to show your individuality. 🤣

Tippz · 06/01/2018 22:28

@JesusTapdancingChrist

You look gorgeous. And I am probably not gay. Blush

Seriously, I love that look. May do it myself now. Always fancied it but I was always in a job where they would have been a bit Hmm if I had had it done.

I am not there now though, and I am roughly your age. I don't think piercings are tacky at all. Many of them look cool!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 06/01/2018 22:28

Sorry forgot healing time. IIRC I had to be careful with it for about a week. It was tender for about 10 days and after that fine. I had mine done 20 years ago though, so memory may have played tricks!!

GrooovyLass · 06/01/2018 22:32

I'm 42. I've had my nose pierced since I was a teenager and last year I had a Monroe (upper lip). I also have my ears done multiple times. Go for it!

lljkk · 06/01/2018 22:34

Mine didn't recover in a mere week. Was 28 yrs ago, but I'm pretty sure it was about 6 wks, like ears.

TooManyPaws · 06/01/2018 22:36

Thanks, LazyDaily. I've not had cartilage pierced before or anything with a needle so nervous!

Nitro, I'm actually copying my elders. You really don't know it all.

AnnaBay · 06/01/2018 22:38

Nitrobetty1 I have some blonde streaks in my brown hair to totally show my individuality with my nose ring or is that not cool enough? Do us middle-y aged women really need blue to be cool?
