and...do you have any thing that can rival this level of utter wankery?

Me, dh and 3 kids having lunch in a little family run Italian pizza place today. Nice place, very family friendly.

In come a family who sit a couple of tables away, 2 kids, one looks about 10 ish and and other bit older. They order drinks and the 2 children start being a bit loud and moany. Nothing too bad tho. They are complaining about not being able to play their new game. The dad says wait till you get him. The mum says let them play...so out of the shopping bag the mum pulls...hungry freaking hippos. The 4 of them start to play the game. The are shouty and the boys are moaning that they are loosing and dad isn't letting them win. The owner goes over and asks them to quieten down and the mum starts shouting at him that hes rude and unreasonable for expecting children to sit in silence. The owner asks them to leave.
I was gobsmacked! who on earth thinks hungry hippos is a restaurant game??

Thought you where going to say something like a game boy (yes I'm old and dont know what the new things are called) hungry hippos is ridiculous. I swear some people don't think of others at all.

Fekko · 06/01/2018 18:02

At least it wasn’t a screen based game!

RavingRoo · 06/01/2018 18:04

I don’t think this is a real story

BigBaboonBum · 06/01/2018 18:04

That’s just hilarious. I’d be so embarrassed

TheQueenOfWands · 06/01/2018 18:04

Well, they are hungry...

And it is a restaurant...

I think it's a sensible place to feed hippos.

Children in restaurants are always loud and annoying, mine included, hippos or no hippos.

metalmum15 · 06/01/2018 18:06

YANBU. Monopoly would have been a much more sensible choice.

MadMaryBoddington · 06/01/2018 18:06

At least it wasn’t Twister.

Ratinthehat · 06/01/2018 18:08

At least it wasn't twisted!

Ratinthehat · 06/01/2018 18:09

@madmary sorry hadn't updated the feed. Great minds and all that

Wibblywobblyfoo · 06/01/2018 18:11

Haha, twister!
I normally get angry at people letting children wander around a resturant but this made my face drop!!

OP posts:
WorraLiberty · 06/01/2018 18:12

Did you tell the waiter there was a face in your soup?

Wibblywobblyfoo · 06/01/2018 18:14

No....i was worried that a hippo would leave footprints in the custard.

OP posts:
YouTheCat · 06/01/2018 18:15

Hilarious! Grin

At least they got asked to leave.

ObscuredbyFog · 06/01/2018 18:34

Children in restaurants are always loud and annoying, mine included

There's no need for children to be loud and noisy, that's not acceptable behaviour in a restaurant.

The right to quiet enjoyment in public areas particularly indoors is fast being eroded by people who are unaware that their intrusive racket adversely impacts others.

crunchymint · 06/01/2018 18:36

They are the kind who will complain that the UK is so unfriendly to children.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 06/01/2018 18:37

Oh no way.

No ones played that since 1994 surely.

Wauden · 06/01/2018 18:38

I respect the owner for asking them to leave!

Spartaca · 06/01/2018 18:42

Of course children aren't always noisy I'm restaurants. Hmm

crunchymint · 06/01/2018 18:48

No children are not always noisy and annoying in restaurants. Maybe yours are, but look around, plenty are not

expatinscotland · 06/01/2018 18:49

Kudos to the owner for streeting them. Kids aren't always noisy in restaurants. They shouldn't be.

CameNhange · 06/01/2018 18:49

No, agree with crunchy min and spartaca

Children are only loud and noisy in restaurants if parents let them be. SEN excepted of course.

Girlsworld92 · 06/01/2018 19:05

The worlds loudest most annoying game. I threw ours away when the kids weren't looking 😂

lynmilne65 · 06/01/2018 20:18

you all crack me up !!!!!!Grin

CorbynsBumFlannel · 06/01/2018 20:27

If this is real then it is spectacularly rude. I can barely stand the sound of that game myself at home for long as it's so ridiculously loud.
Maybe it was quieter than the tantrum that they avoided though? That's the usual argument for shoving screens in front of kids in restaurants isn't it?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 06/01/2018 20:55

Hungry Hippos! 😂

They couldn’t have picked a louder game... maybe at the exception of Bop It.
