To wish we had a bath?

When we bought the house, the bathroom has just been done with a walk in shower. We managed without the bath and don't have any real need for one as D.C. can all manage a shower. We won't be changing it due to the cost involved but it's been so long since I had a bath, I would love to have one. Blush
AIBU to want a bath? So relaxing and nice to chill every now and then. I guess my only option would be if we ever had one in a hotel or holiday let. Not sure where else I could have one!
Don't feel I can ask a friend! Blush

I can't imagine not having a bath, I am running one just now Grin - I have a bath every single night, love it, so relaxing.

BackforGood · 05/01/2018 20:44

YANBU. I would never buy a house that didn't have a bath, or, worst case scenario space, and money in the budget to put a bath in.

FluffyAnimalsRule · 05/01/2018 20:46

YANBU. Bath an absolute necessity. i love my bath. Definite necessity.

Bluntness100 · 05/01/2018 20:46

Baths bore me senseless. I get bored five mins after getting in. I've never had a bath in this house and been here nearly four years. In fact I can't actually remember the last time I had one, probably about six years ago.

Sparrowlegs248 · 05/01/2018 20:47

I'm the opposite. I have a bath but no shower. I have a reasonable sized bathroom but nowhere to put a shower. Can't go over the bath due to sloping ceiling. There's bath, sink and toilet along one long side. Window at the end. Double width airing cupboard on the other long side then the door. I never wallow in the bath, just in wash and out . Seems such a waste.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 05/01/2018 20:47

YANBU!!

When i lived at home, we only had a shower and I longed for a nice, hot relaxing bath to the point that when I went away with work and discovered that my hotel room only had a bath too, i marched right back to reception and asked to be moved to a room that had a bath.

The only room they had left had a bath, but a single bed. The receptionist could quite understand why I would rather sleep in a single bed than have a room with a shower.

I recall saying to him "Do you have a bath at home?"

"yes"

"Then you don't understand!!!"

DingDongDenny · 05/01/2018 20:47

We don't have a bath at the moment

I really miss having a bath, they are great when you are bone cold to warm you up, or for relaxing with a book and a glass of wine

HelloCanYouHearMe · 05/01/2018 20:48

*room only had a shower Blush

VictoriaMildrew · 05/01/2018 20:51

I've got a bath...actually never had a house without one...but I can't remember the last time I had one! Can't abide lying in one...actually makes me feel sick (physically sick). You can have my bath if you like OP...I'm quite happy with my shower 😊 💐

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 05/01/2018 20:51

I would buy a house without a bath. Some days there's 3 baths run in our house 😂

minionsrule · 05/01/2018 20:51

I get a bath about once a fortnight. Just bought a house with a walk in shower and a lovely deep long bath with taps in the middle..... last house had a tiny narrow bath so this is bliss 😊

SummerSazz · 05/01/2018 20:57

I'm in the bath right now with a glass of chilled rose. I have one 4-5x a week. Left for wirk at 6.45am and home at 7.30pm. My bath is my relaxing sanctuary except when dc come on and poo Hmm

Mil has got rid of her bath and dsis considering it Shock.

I would never buy a house without a (deep) bath.

Amanduh · 05/01/2018 21:01

We had a completelt shite and pointless bath at our last rental, as it was too shallow! It didnt even cover anyone's legs! Absolutely pointless, we all complained (flats in a new build) but no doing.
Since we bought our new house with (fab, deep) bath I love nothing more than some lovely bath foam or a bath bomb, a good book, and a soak. Bliss.

FluffyWuffy100 · 05/01/2018 21:03

I kept a bath because I thought I’d have one occasionally. Haven’t had a single bath since I had the bathroom done last year!

I think it’s the not being able to have a bath that is making you have one.

Check into a cheap hotel for a night? Stay with friends or relatives?

meltingsugar · 05/01/2018 21:18

I love baths, YANBU. Just love sinking into hot water, nothing else quite like it. I like it so hot my skin tingles.

helpfulperson · 05/01/2018 21:22

Most Premier Inn's have really nice baths and sometimes really cheap £29 rooms. I couldn't cope without a bath.

Whinesalot · 05/01/2018 21:28

They are either too hot or they cool down too quickly and you have to keep topping up with hot water.
They aren't relaxing at all and the only times i've had one in the last 20 years are post birth for a week or two and when I had an operation. I used to try the glass of wine/candle thing - but nah they don't live anywhere near up to expectation.

GinisLife · 05/01/2018 21:32

My brand new modern free standing bath in my new bathroom has dust gathering in it. I only had it cos I was told family type houses need a bath. The new tap is rubbish as the pipe is too narrow and the water's cold by the time there's even quarter of an inch of water in the bottom.

smileygrapefruit · 05/01/2018 22:06

Yadnbu! We have been in this house without a bath for 5 years, we are house hunting at the moment and any without a bath are struck straight off the list.
I do go round to MIL's for a nice soak occasionally but I genuinely would be in the bath every night if we had one.
My parents used to have a giant corner Jacuzzi bath when I lived with them and it was the best thing ever!!!

00100001 · 05/01/2018 22:13

About once a year I try a bath, a candles and fluffy towels one.

It's rubbish, get cold quickly, have to be super careful trying to read a book, trying to keep both hands dry. My knees are always exposed. Id rather a power shower, freshly made bed, fresh PJs and have a good reading session in my bed. It's warmer, more comfy, easier to read in and means I don't have to get out :D

00100001 · 05/01/2018 22:13

Get out to go to bed*

MrsRhubarb · 05/01/2018 22:15

We have a wet room type arrangement for disabled MIL, I miss a bath so much. Sometimes I go round to my mums for a soak, but it isn't the same. On our last holiday my one request for our hotel was a room with a bath. Imagine my fury when we got there and there was only a shower.

starzig · 05/01/2018 22:26

YANBU this no bath trend I'd making house buying do difficult. Especially when you see it is to create an additional ensuite in a 2 bed house with already 3 washrooms lol.

starzig · 05/01/2018 22:28

Ok it probably takes the more intelligent of you out there to interpret that typing drivel.
