faulty shoes...no reciept....paid cash....ARGH!!!!

We usually pay with things by card, but we were given cash at christmas and thought we would use that and save us having to put it in the bank. Kids needed new shoes so off we went to clarks (limited choice of shoe shops nr us)

Anyway.... they had my dd's size in the style she wanted so we bought them and paid cash.

DD went back to school this week, by day 3 she was complaining her ankles hurt. we noticed that she was walking funny...like her foot is turning over and walking on the side of her foot.

She has mild flat feet which currently she is managing without insoles so we wondered if it was her needing the insoles back in.

Anyway on further inspection the sewing seems to be wonky on the shoes.

I'll try my best to describe.... the back seem from back of ankle to heel is diagonal on one foot and straight on the other. Its diagonal on the one shes walking funny on, making the shoe "wonky"

Would this be enough of a fault to be a return? We would want a replacement rather than refund, but we dont have the reciept.... Which I am thoroughly pissed off at. Usually we keep all reciepts for at least a few weeks/months, but for some reason this one seems to have slipped through and been thrown out.

Do you think clarks will replace without a reciept. Theyre full price, this season clarks, you can tell they haven't been worn much (less than a week)and we have the box.

They will probably do an exchange or a credit note. But a credit note would probably be the minimum they've been sold for, so it they're on sale that amount.

SweetieBaby · 05/01/2018 19:03

I've always found Clark's to be fantastic at exchanging shoes. Take them back and explain. I'm sure they will change them for you.

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 05/01/2018 19:04

Clark's are fab and will just refit another pair. Especially if they can see they're faulty

MrsU88 · 05/01/2018 19:05

They were only bought a week ago so hopefully, they won't have been put in the sale now. There's not often sales on school shoes that I see anyway.

credit note would be fine as we'd just spend it on shoes again...just don't want to be left with no option but to pay for yet another pair of shoes.

If they're faulty you don't need a receipt. If your goods are faulty and you don't have the receipt, you are entitled to either repair, refund or replacement from them.

Thanks x

Clarks are great take them back sooner rather than later if you can

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 05/01/2018 19:27

Clarks are good, you should be able to exchange.
@Amanduh - wrt refund, doesn't it depend on the company policy as to whether you get the refund as opposed to exchange etc? Only 1 place I've worked will refund faulty no receipt. Everywhere else, no proof of purchase = exchange only at present value on till. As we have no proof you bought the item.

doze931 · 05/01/2018 19:49

Clarks are great. My ds is on 3rd pair school shoes from sept as first 2 faulty. Changed with no receipts

Thingsthatgo · 05/01/2018 19:52

Clarks often ask for an email address for an e-receipt. which really annoys me if you gave them an email address you might have one.

You can buy cakes iced and then put them together and decorate them yourself?

JugglingMummyof2 · 05/01/2018 20:49
