I genuinely don't know. Was a bit disappointed

Yes I think that's a good point about the notice board. It hadn't occurred to me that someone would have come in and dumped these, I assumed they had been put out by the reception desk nearby. My mistake.

And anyway, they're not 'pro life'. They're anti-abortion.

Between a third and a half of all women in the UK in their lifetime will have a termination. They're not 'anti life', are they? Most of them will have their own children at some point, love their families, care for others.

So maybe eff off with the 'pro life' rhetoric, aye?

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2018 20:49

Oh bollocks haff. I don't need your screwed up version of education thank you.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2018 20:50

There is no point for me haff. This doesn't actually affect me.

Interesting about the term pro life. I suppose it's pro life to the exclusion of all other options

I had the most dreadful bother to take away leaflets to do with one of those dreadful MLM schemes from a local university. Every time I took them away they came back.

And that’s before you get me started on the various fundamentalist religious leaflets of all flavours that get posted around the campus under the guise of come and make new friends we have pizza.

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2018 20:52

But why did you take them away?

OP posts:
LineysRunes · 04/01/2018 20:52

Ask if they support the death penalty?

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2018 20:52

They're just leaflets

OP posts:
Bluedoglead · 04/01/2018 20:53

Sorry I wasn’t clear - they were being put on a notice board by a member of staff in the case of the mlm and in the societies area for the religious leaflets.

Coconutspongexo · 04/01/2018 20:53

How can you say they’re just leaflets but be offended by this leaflet? I’m confused

BertrandRussell · 04/01/2018 20:54

“Like burning people and censoring information?”

The burning people thing was a joke-as you well know. And if you think a SPUC leaflet contains information you are sadly misinformed.

Bluedoglead · 04/01/2018 20:55

Because the leaflets to dowith the mlm required an investment of £ ad weren’t officially approved and were being put up on the official boards.

With the religious leaflet, they were related to external organisations not internal student societies and had no basis to be on the societies notice board.

Bluedoglead · 04/01/2018 20:56

Because they were being put on the official notice boards in direct contravention of university policy.

I was trying (cackhandledly) to make the point that even gettig them off official boards is hard.

To be more accurate, it's pro-fetus. Some 'pro-lifers' have happily murdered doctors in the furthrance of their aims. Pro-life my arse.

Yes to this.

Mumof56 · 04/01/2018 21:02

What an odd thing to joke about.

Bluedoglead · 04/01/2018 21:02

That’s not what I’m saying -see my follow up posts. I was trying to say thatsven getting leaflets that contravene university policy off universitynotoce boardswhere staff have keys and put up the leaflets is hard enough, never mind an open table in an area with hundreds of people potentially going past everyday.

LineysRunes · 04/01/2018 21:02

Some 'pro-lifers' have happily murdered doctors in the furtherance of their aims. Pro-life my arse

True. And they also support the death penalty for other people who kill.

Bluedoglead · 04/01/2018 21:02

Phone and false nails don’t mix 🤣😂 sorryi hope you can decipher

StealthPolarBear · 04/01/2018 21:03

"Some 'pro-lifers' have happily murdered doctors in the furthrance of their aims."
Madness. I'd go so far as to say it's just anti women. Do they care about the fetus? Not a chance

I’m strongly pro choice.

I’m also a firm believer in free speech, and that rigorous debate is healthier than the censoring and no platforming that is becoming so common at universities.

I would have found the handing out of these leaflets distasteful, but I would respect the leafleters’ right to free speech allowing them to hand out such material. At the very least, if I can’t respect their point of view why should I expect them to respect mine?

Mumof56 · 04/01/2018 21:09

You'd extend the right to free speech to a table?

Spuc provides real support to women who want to keep their babies but cannot afford all the equipment. How is that anti-women?
