Now the in laws are harassing me saying you need to take COD liver oil and garlic and that t works to stop you getting colds
But keep going on about it

Of course it doesn't stop all colds. Saying it makes them feel better.
Nothing wrong with doing what you can to help your system along with Vit C or whatever. But it isn't infallible.

How does saying that make them feel better though

That they feel they have given advice ?

Feeling superior and wise .

I've not had a cold for many years. I take a multivitamin & mineral capsule, & a vitamin B capsule daily. Ive been doing that for around 30 years. I buy cod liver oil capsules intermittently and take alongside, when I remember. I don't know if this is why I don't get colds. I do get flu however, but I'd say once every 5 years.

There is some (not great quality) evidence that garlic helps protect against colds and may reduce the duration

it works. sort of.
cod liver oil = vit d3 is proven to help with all sorts of illnesses if you are deficient (and many people in uk are)
garlic: again good source of nutrients and some antibacterial properties

however both can't keep you from catching something, but can help your body fight it better.
