To not want to put up with one mum's faddy habits at nursery?

Ok, so DD is starting at a new nursery next week. I visited today and the sleep room was totally blacked out. I asked why, and it turns out that one mum insisted that it was blacked out so her little one, who has been brought up following a certain baby-rearing philosophy, can sleep. I happen to know this mum and her baby chucks major tantrums if she tries to get her to nap anywhere apart from a cot in a blacked out room.

I've brought my dd up being able to sleep anywhere, at any time, which is much more flexible for everyone and don't want her to get used to only being able to sleep in a dark room. Am I unreasonable for being peed that my good work is going to be undone just because of one mum!!

I would be glad of blackout blind, as her childs' yelling becoause its too light would interupt my los sleep...

You may be ranting about nothing. When my DD1 was at nursery, the sleep room wasn't big enough for all the babies to nap at the same time. DD1 only got 30 minutes of sleep during the day whilst at nursery. Once she was bigger, the children seemed to sleep in large bouncy chairs.

My DD continued to nap for two hours on the days that she was not at nursery. Nursery days did not affect her usual sleep habits.

back to the original question - i agree with you empie
i would be cross too.
let her little darling get used to how the sleep room is now, or let her find a one on one nanny.

oh, and btw, our nursery (chain) has at least a couple of babies a year who move from the nursery (independent) down the road because their baby sleep room is TOO DARK and many children hate it. others need it if that's what they're used to.
