HAPPY NEW YEAR MNers.
I commented on a post the other day about what everyone was upto and loved it. Felt it was a nice post.

So... what have you all been up to on this New Year's Day?

We've had a very chilled day, pjs and duvets on the sofa, me reading, DD1 watching a Netflix show and DD2 switching between Barbies, arts and crafts and reading her new stories. We've nibbled and snacked all day and we've gone through plenty of hot chocolate. It's just what we've needed after an absolute rubbish few days. Ones now in bed the others showering and choosing another new set of pjs 😂 I'm sure tomorrow will be about the same x

Another lazy day here. Got up around 10am, walked the dog, dragged ds out of bed at 12pm (he was at an NYE party last night) and made him revise. Spent rest of day watching films and napping. Not abc at school/work until 9th Jan so a few more lazy days ahead.

WinterHoliday · 01/01/2018 21:50

I've spent a chilled out day listening to podcasts and watching films which I recorded over the last couple of days - 84 Charing Cross Road and the last Harry Potter film (even though I have all the Harry Potter films on DVD).

MelanieCheeks · 01/01/2018 21:52

Double parkrun with the dog. Got soaked so really enjoyed my shower, followed by scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and croissant.

Knitted my Aran jumper, shaped the armholes.

Dh made dinner-lasagne, chips and peas.

Read a bit of Eleanor oliphant, did a load of laundry.

Llanali · 01/01/2018 21:55

Woke up to driving rain, so nabbed DH new wellies to stumble across the currently flooded fields to fling more hay over stable doors.
Coffee. More coffee. Then dog walk with the three canine musketeers, then to the timber merchants to buy more fencing since the youngest of the dogs escaped yesterday and ran two and a half miles across fields. Twat.
Then spent a few hours making the fence higher, and working on the barn roof repairs, then poulticing the still-lame horse. Steak and salad for lunch.
Played with DD-4, watched frozen- again- then made chocolate sponge with fresh cream filling and peppermint creams.
Finished the yard off, supper for DD, bath and bed. Now watching Greys Anatomy, drinking wine and will go out and do late night Stables soon.

Been hibernating all week.
But today we got up at 7:00 to go skiing. Was fantastic sunny day with a powdery covering of new snow. ..... and the dcs were lovely all day. Had raclette dinner with sil and her dh''s family in their mountain chalet with amazing views of the alps.

ScootieAllan · 01/01/2018 21:59

Had hangover so went out for cheese and marmite toasties. Had a cultural couple of hours at an art exhibition. Came home , got back into pyjamas and hung out with next doors cat on the sofa whilst watching Great Canal Journeys and eating polenta pie.

Got up with DCS, nagged them into dressing/ doing teeth/ tidying up, let them watch TV whilst I put away 4 loads of laundry and washed another 2. FML. Cleaned bathrooms. Played board games, arts and crafts, then DH took them to the park while I napped- epic. DD and I did some colouring together then she lost interest and I carried on all evening! I love colouring 😊 Finished nice deli bits from the fridge for supper. Quiet day, I'm not hungover but tired so it was welcome.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 01/01/2018 22:11

DD (10) and I lazed in bed until 10, then had bacon butties and lots of chocolate.

We then went to watch The Greatest Showman this afternoon which was just amazing. One of the best films I've ever seen and I'd love to see it again.

We finished off with a McDonalds so not a hint of decent food all day! ☺️

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 01/01/2018 22:17

Got up at stupid o clock, exercised a few horses, mucked out a few stables, swept the yard and got home before the rain. Good start to the new year there!

Then watched Mrs Doubtfire while translating some basic Russian text (futile efforts to learn!). Horses back in from the field, dog walked, now have Spectre on the tv and some sloe gin.

There have been worse days.

EvilDoctorHogmanayDuck · 01/01/2018 22:39

I spent most of the day lying on my bed, drinking beer, eating mini turkey and stuffing pasties and MNing. I just had to pop out to Sainsbury's. The DC spent all day in pyjamas, on their tablets. They have to get dressed tomorrow as DD's going to my aunt's, and I think DS2 should also be presentable! Xmas Blush

mumof2sarah · 02/01/2018 08:25

I literally love all these and this sort of thread. It's so nice sometimes to just have something relaxed. Maybe it should be a daily thing? But a positive one so even if just one things gone right in the day that's what the focus is on the post x

I went to work a 12 hour shift. Made it to 11 hours then came down with the bug, threw up and had to leave!

RedForFilth · 02/01/2018 09:21

Just waiting for a poster to say I can't possibly have a bug as I'm posting on mn Xmas Wink picked my 2 year old up after and have him with no help all day as I'm a lone parent!

mumof2sarah · 02/01/2018 09:25

@RedForFilth I hope you're feeling better soon ThanksThanksThanks

Thank you so do I!

TheHodgeHeg · 02/01/2018 09:43

Flying home from visiting family in the UK (I live overseas). We missed most of NYD because of the time difference and it was the opposite of relaxing to be sat on the plane for 12 hours! It was nice to see loads of fireworks from the plane though and I was very happy to get home to my kitten.

mumof2sarah · 02/01/2018 09:46

@TheHodgeHeg I'm not a huge fan of fireworks but I've always wanted to see them from a plane. Welcome home to your own home and kitty. I hope you get a good relaxing day soon enough 🙏🏻

Fiddled about with settings on my phone, downloaded a lovely owl theme, texted family and friends, made DS2 breakfast, made myself a coffee, MNed.

EvilDoctorHogmanayDuck · 02/01/2018 09:51

RedForFilth if I'm ill but can't/not allowed to sleep, I post on MN. What else are you supposed to do? Xmas Confused

Binkybix · 02/01/2018 10:04

Bit of a hangover, did some house chores, kids to park for an hour, tiny bit of writing then to friends for lovely food whilst DCs played. Then Peaky Blinders and bed!
