HAPPY NEW YEAR MNers.
I commented on a post the other day about what everyone was upto and loved it. Felt it was a nice post.

So... what have you all been up to on this New Year's Day?

We've had a very chilled day, pjs and duvets on the sofa, me reading, DD1 watching a Netflix show and DD2 switching between Barbies, arts and crafts and reading her new stories. We've nibbled and snacked all day and we've gone through plenty of hot chocolate. It's just what we've needed after an absolute rubbish few days. Ones now in bed the others showering and choosing another new set of pjs 😂 I'm sure tomorrow will be about the same x

2 oldest DS’s were very excited for me to open presents so had the perfect morning opening them with a brew and leftover party food !

Spent rest of the day watching footy and family came to visit - it’s been a bloody lovely day today!

Happy New Year everyone !

mishfish · 01/01/2018 21:24

Woke up at 7:15 with DD2 as partner was at the gym (not a New Years resolutioner!) and I then spent the day studying, have exam on Wednesday!

Serin · 01/01/2018 21:25

Crochet We have those igel pillows and mattress, they have literally changed my life!! Used to have bad back pain and now I wake up pain free. Worth every penny.

We have had a house full of people staying over for NYE. I cooked lunch for 2pm. Washed up. wanted to walk dog but weather is awful here with trees falling so decided against it.

Am grumpy as have work tomorrow and feel like I have spent the holidays just looking after others.

Growingboys · 01/01/2018 21:25

Left the inlaws up north and came back home to an empty house for 24 hours.

Had soup for lunch.

Went for a run - the world and his wife were out for a walk - then made spag bol for the freezer.

Bath, read the whole internet, beans on toast for supper and now in bed with my book dreading work tomorrow.

Bratsandtwats · 01/01/2018 21:26

Got up at 6am and went to work until early afternoon. Fry up late lunch and chill on the sofa after a long, hot shower.

Littlelambpeep · 01/01/2018 21:26

We went to the beach, make sandcastles and took lovely photos, went to the park and out for a meal. Staying over in our favourite hotel tonight. Rarely have a day as good as this

ComtesseDeSpair · 01/01/2018 21:28

Started the year as I mean to go on - ran 20km along the Thames Path at dawn to shake off my hangover, then met with some friends for a nice leisurely bike ride along the canals and wetlands followed by a late mid-afternoon pub lunch. Was a really nice day. Now just at home pottering about doing laundry and prepping for going back to work tomorrow.

Happy 2018 all!

Theimpossiblegirl · 01/01/2018 21:28

Happy New Year
I got up, made tea and toast for the many teens who seemed to be sleeping over, cleared up last night's party, went for a lovely long walk with the dog and then used some of my Christmas smellies in the bath while I read a book.

GoingRogue · 01/01/2018 21:28

I haven't got dressed, and I'm not even ill! Blush Had a bit of a hangover this am, so was back and forth to bed between sorting the kids out. DH took them out for a walk after lunch...I went back to bed for a nap!

We've watched Ice Age and played Scrabble. It's been lovely Smile

PumpkinPie2016 · 01/01/2018 21:29

We went on a day trip to the steam railway - was lovely as the stations had decorations still up and a Thomas the tank model railway in the sheds at the station we get the train from. DS is 4 and train mad so he was very happy!

Nice steam train ride and pub lunch plus the drive there and back is nice.

This evening we relaxed and once DS was in bed, myself and DH watched a Sherlock Holmes episode (working out way through the Jeremy Brett box set).

Now say in bed chilling and going to read some of my book.

I am not back at work until the 8th and DS is off preschool until then so I am going to enjoy the last few days at home and take the tree down Smile

octonaught · 01/01/2018 21:30

woke up at friends, came home showered, went back to friend's for lunch. had a huge nap.Evening on the phone, internet, eating picky bits & watching a bit of netflix

KingscoteStaff · 01/01/2018 21:32

Lay in bed until 11!! Only lie in I’ve had this hols...

Dug DS out of his pit and offered moral support and bacon sandwiches as he revised for mocks next week.

DH picked up DD from her party sleepover, then they both went for a walk.

Sausage and mash for dinner then played new games - DD and I liked Exploding Kittens best, DH and DS preferred Sushi Go.

Back to work tomorrow :(

BiscuitsWithEverythingPlease · 01/01/2018 21:33

Happy New Year!

A lovely day here too, pottering about taking the tree and decorations down. Both DS and their g'friends came over and they cooked a lovely belated birthday dinner for me. I watched bake off, finished some knitting and now in bed on mumsnet for a while before sleep. DH watching telly and will probably fall asleep on the sofa! We are doing dry january. Back to work tomorrow. It's all good.

Nice thread OP, thank you

BlessYourCottonSocks · 01/01/2018 21:34

Up about 10.00am. Stripped beds, put 2 loads of washing on and dishwasher. Watched Harry Potter best 50 moments. Put some home made carrot soup on to cook. Walked dog on the beach with DH and DS. Home - ate soup. DB came round and we played Christmas board games. Made tea (nut roast, baked potato and broccoli) Feeling vaguely smug/healthy because we're not vegetarians but seem to have had a lot of meat this holiday! DH and I have just made up beds with fresh/tumbledried bedding. DS is watching Titanic, dog is asleep in front of fire, DH reading and I've just finished a good book and am on MN.

ladystarkers · 01/01/2018 21:34

Cleaning, friend over for dinner and relaxed.

RedHelenB · 01/01/2018 21:37

Friends fest on Netflix and a nice walk with puppy.

ReanimatedSGB · 01/01/2018 21:38

Didn't get up till midday as was at a party last night (came home at 2am, DS was still up and capering about after several cans of Coke - he's 13. His Dad had been minding him while I was out; DS dad stayed on for another hour to share some of my Xmas bottle of Jack Daniel's.) Then when DS surfaced shortly after me we agreed we would skip the ice-rink and fairground today as it was cold and wet, so I braved Sainsbury's to get lunch and dinner for us. Lazy afternoon dicking around on social media, interrupted myself only to do a bit of tidying up and clean out the fishtank. Dinner of honey-glazed gammon and parsnips, now dicking around online some more till bedtime.

whiskyfairy · 01/01/2018 21:38

Got in at 10am Blush from NYE celebrations (refused to pay for hotel so stayed out until first train back).

Slept a few hours, did some cleaning and ironing.

Curry for dinner, watched a film, now going to sleep. Work tomorrow...

Indie139 · 01/01/2018 21:39

Woke up late. Went to Morrison's and McDonald's. Spent rest of the day being lazy watching movies. Back to work tomorrow...ugh..as been a lovely week and a half off!

AhhhhThatsBass · 01/01/2018 21:41

Happy New Year!
We had a lie in til 930 after a late night (DD usually wakes at 7), followed by brunchvat Home and then I’ve skatong at the natural History Museum at dusk. It was magical. But packed. And a spin on the carousel after. Heading to bed now, love an early night. Back to work tomorrow, sigh.

AhhhhThatsBass · 01/01/2018 21:41

Ice skating even

lookingforthecorkscrew · 01/01/2018 21:42

DH wanted to write all day so I had a long, late breakfast with 3yo DS, then we had a little walk to Sainsbury’s to buy ham for lunch. Ate lunch, had a nap with DS, then played with his new toys and watched telly until bathtime. A very lazy day. In my defence I’m 16 weeks pregnant, still suffering from sickness and bleeding from a haematoma!

MsAwesomeDragon · 01/01/2018 21:43

It's my dad's birthday, so the whole family went to my parents for a party. We exchanged Christmas presents with the extended family that we haven't seen over the festive period, then moved on to my dad's 70th birthday. Some of us went to the park for a while in the middle of the day to let the kids burn off some energy, others went to the pub because there were really too many people for the size of the house. It was a nice day, but we were all quite glad to use the kid's bedtimes as an excuse to leave at the end of it.

Squirrel26 · 01/01/2018 21:47

Stayed over at friend’s house. Tea and bacon sandwiches for breakfast. Home via McDonalds for lunch. Walked dog with the aid of Costa honeycomb latte. Spent the evening on the sofa eating pie and then biscuits. Dog asleep next to me. I’ve got the rest of this week off (worked last week). Planning what I’m going to do with it (what I should do - paint the hall. What I’m going to end up doing - seeing friends and deciding to live with the hall as it is.)

mumof2sarah · 01/01/2018 21:48

@lookingforthecorkscrew sending you lots of love, hopefully everything will calm down soon and you can begin to fully enjoy your pregnancy x

@AhhhhThatsBass That day sounds wonderful x

@MsAwesomeDragon happy birthday to your dad x

Everyone's else's day sounds like a lovely mixture. I'd say if only all our days were like this but I think then we'd be bored and they wouldn't feel as perfect then x
