To be glad that DH goes back to work tomorrow

I love him dearly but I will be glad to have the house to myself once more and be able to get on with stuff and get back into my routines and be able to clean surfaces knowing that they wont' be covered in toast crumbs 30 minutes later.(No kids at home.)

I know when he retires I'll have him here full time but will cross that bridge later!

Anyone else feel the same?

Me! But I’ve got the kids at home for another week. Daddy hypes them up though, so I’m hoping there will be some peace once he’s back.

NSEA · 01/01/2018 14:40

Not me. I love my husband being home but then I make him clean up his own toast mess!

It is an annoying disruption to the routine though! But it’s good to have a helping hand.

Cantuccit · 01/01/2018 14:42

Make him clean up his mess!

DownstairsMixUp · 01/01/2018 14:43

Like the username Grin

Make him clean up though, I wouldn't tolerate that.

halfwitpicker · 01/01/2018 14:44

YANBU.

I thought DH went back on the 3rd so I'd have a day to myself but he's back the 4th like me.

froginapond · 01/01/2018 14:44

Men being at home all the time are a PITA.

Trb17 · 01/01/2018 14:45

Me! He’s looking forward to going back too.

We’ve no money to spare so bored stuck in a lot.

DD is off another week though but at least when it’s just her and me things are simpler and I get more control of the tv Grin

ruleshelpcontrolthefun · 01/01/2018 14:47

Ooh yanbu. I can't wait and neither can he. He usually enjoys weekends with us but 10 days of 2 small children has nearly broke him. I do it every single fucking day without his "help" but hey ho Hmm

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2018 14:47

Mine goes back on Wednesday and I'm not really looking forward to it.

It's been great to have a second pair of hands to look after our puppy in the day.

Plus, he's been doing all the cooking and washing up so we'll have to get back into a more shared routine again.

JaneEyre70 · 01/01/2018 14:49

DH has had a week off, we were supposed to be going away but he's had manflu and has literally driven me insane. He's coughed, spluttered and sneezed over every surface and now DD3 and I have both come down with it too though funnily enough I've managed to walk the dog and do all the housework Hmm. He's only moved out of bed to the chair in the lounge and is currently eating with his mouth open. I am LONGING for it to be 8am tomorrow and he's gone to work. Am I a bad person - probably!!

Microwaved111 · 01/01/2018 14:49

Nope i love dp being home. He helps with 6mo dd and gives me a break. It's boring here on maternity leave when he's a work!

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 14:55

Wow, mixed opinions here! Envy you your puppy, Worra.

He would clean up his toast mess if he actually registered it but like many men he has special eyesight that filters out certain substances, like crumbs. But he's a good lad really, and pushes the Dyson round as it does my back in!

I'm back at work tomorrow, DH on Wednesday (DC also back at school/6th form on Wednesday)

DH will get some shopping in ( he doesn't drive so just what he can carry) , tidy up a bit , might do dinner.

Though , to balance, I made lovely dinners all the holidays, shopped, took the tree down, tidied etc. Wink

My plan for Friday (when I will have the house to myself) is to do a massive wardrobe cull and start the New Year a bit organised .

Reallycantbebothered · 01/01/2018 15:07

My dh works from home and tbh it's been a godsend having him at home as I've been off work since October when diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease and have been very poorly
He's brilliant and brought me breakfast in bed every day , done the washing but he also leaves crumbs in the kitchen however he is a brilliant cook
Maybe it's one of the reasons we've been married 30 years!
However also had kids home from uni and they still need to be prompted to tidy up after themselves Hmm

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/01/2018 15:16

I've quite enjoyed DH being off. We've had some lovely walks and binge watched loads of crap.

Worra what sort of puppy have you got? 😍

MadisonAvenue · 01/01/2018 15:30

I always look forward to this every Christmas. I tend to do less while he's around and feel really, really lazy.

However, he was told a few days before Christmas that his dept is to take ALL annual leave during their quiet period which is January so apart from a week that's already been authorised for early Spring he'll have no more holidays this year and it'll be almost February when he goes back to work.

MissyCupCake · 01/01/2018 15:35

My H is on sick leave which runs out tomorrow, so he should be going back to work. He is not. Going to the docs to get another 2 weeks (at least!), he's driving me batty!

He could go back to work tomorrow but he is determined to wring every last minute out of his 'illness'. He's been off since since end of October and I can't wait to have to me time at home alone!

montysr · 01/01/2018 15:39

@Microwaved111 I'm in the same boat as you! 4 month old baby and on maternity leave so LOVE having him at home, it's tiring with the baby without him so I'm actually a bit anxious about him going back because I'm so much better rested after this holiday!

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 15:42

Madison
That sounds eminently unreasonable. No leave at all after early spring? What sort of company does this?

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/01/2018 15:46

I need to have my DH around. I've hardly seen him over Christmas because he works in the food warehouse for one of the UKs largest high street names.

PolarBearGoingSomewhere · 01/01/2018 16:00

I've really loved DH being off. We've had lots of fun and spent loads of time doing nothing. I'll really miss him!

Wish the kids had another few days off too, they're back to school on Wednesday .

That said, I love getting back into our little routine, and I'm looking forward to some proper food. Perhaps better to quit while we're ahead than become sick of the "quantity time" just being together, and the all day grazing! There is definitely a certain freshness and focus to January which I like.

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2018 16:19

Worra what sort of puppy have you got?

She's very probably a Lurcher/Saluki cross. We're not 100% sure as she was found abandoned.

But she's gorgeous with very gangly legs and ears Grin

Hoppinggreen · 01/01/2018 16:22

No worra I think you are making that up - of course a photo would prove it
I will be very glad when DH goes back to work tomorrow, even though the dc have another week off.
DH has been doing the early morning dog walk though so that is something

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 01/01/2018 16:32

Yes a photo would be lovely Worra Smile she sounds gorgeous.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 01/01/2018 16:37

YANBU. You realise you need to put in motion a plan for his retirement? My DH has an allotment Xmas Grin
