To be glad that DH goes back to work tomorrow

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 14:34

I love him dearly but I will be glad to have the house to myself once more and be able to get on with stuff and get back into my routines and be able to clean surfaces knowing that they wont' be covered in toast crumbs 30 minutes later.(No kids at home.)

I know when he retires I'll have him here full time but will cross that bridge later!

Anyone else feel the same?

Worra she sounds adorable, I'm very jealous.

As for DH, he goes back tomorrow but I've another week off. It's been nice having him around & I actually think I'll miss him. We've been so busy recently it seems like we've hardly seen each other.

PumpkinPie2016 · 01/01/2018 16:38

It's kind of the other way round in.our house - I work full time out of the home and our DS goes to preschool 9-3pm each day. DH is self employed but part time and his schedule varies so somedays he can be at home all day, others out all day.

I am not back at work until the 8th and DS is also off until then. It's been lovely having time to relax and do things together and DH says it will take some getting used to bring on his own in the daytime again.

I'm some ways though, I like my work routine and being out of the house so will quite like getting back into the routine of things again.

YANBU.

I'm looking forward to Thursday, when the kids go back to school as well.

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 01/01/2018 16:44

YANBU. I've loved having dh around but lovely-Christmas-dh has turned into my-mind-is-on-work-dh. It would be better for everyone if he was actually at work now!

I'm 32 weeks pregnant so I've appreciated the help but our nanny is back tomorrow - I'll take a professional over an amateur any day! Grin

Situp · 01/01/2018 16:49

definitely looking forward to it. DH has a very stressful job so sees Christmas as a chance to unwind but all of my jobs continue, especially as so much of Christmas revolves around food which is my area.

got another week with DCs but they are much more manageable when I am on my own as I keep the routine pretty tight.

mydogisthebest · 01/01/2018 16:54

I am not looking forward to DH going back to work tomorrow. He often works 6 or even 7 days a week and fairly long hours so I love it when he is home. He actually has been home since Christmas Eve.

I don't work and wish we could afford for DH to retire early

CoolCarrie · 01/01/2018 16:55

I can’t wait until mine goes back to SA on Wednesday, so my ds & I get an extra week in Scotland and can wander around the sales in peace, without him saying What Are You Buying That For, all the bloody time!

whoareyoukidding · 01/01/2018 16:59

My DH is now semi-retired and it has not been easy adjusting to his being around the house a lot of the time. In the early days of his being around, I had to bite my tongue quite a lot because he was annoying me but I have slowly adjusted to it. I still like to have the house to myself, though.

LuluJakey1 · 01/01/2018 17:06

DH is off until next Tuesday. PIL have gone back to Yorkshire. SIL gone to stay with PIL. BIL back at work tomorrow. We are looking forward to a week alone with DCs.

My feelings exactly mydogisthebest
I'm really sad that DH is going back to work tomorrow. It's been so lovely having him home all day. He's pretty distraught about going back as well. Exactly 30 years last night since we found each other.

ItMadeMyEyesWater · 01/01/2018 17:25

My DH has been off work for the last nine months due to illness, he goes back next month, and I can't wait. He irritates me beyond belief. I would love a divorce, but he says we can't afford it. Worse still, he's talking about retiring.

yorkshapudding · 01/01/2018 17:32

I've really enjoyed having DH at home. He goes back tomorrow and I'm not back until next Monday. We've had a lovely, chilled out couple of weeks off together and DD has loved having him at home as he works long hours so she usually doesn't see much of him at all during the week.

Then again, when DH is at home he tidies up, cooks, does the food shop etc. If he was a man child who couldn't clean up after himself I'd probably be glad to have him at work.

Maelstrop · 01/01/2018 17:46

She's very probably a Lurcher/Saluki cross. We're not 100% sure as she was found abandoned.

Picture, pretty please? I love Salukis. A friend has one and I want to steal him.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 18:19

A sad story ItMade - I hope you can work things out.

Picture of the pup please Worra! This is not negotiable.

Am dreading DH going back to work tomorrow. I’m off another week and have no routines to get back into, just two young children to entertain and a horrible cold! I won’t be able to go back to bed mid-morning tomorrow, I’ll have to sort dinner and do everything myself. I love having him home!

mydogisthebest · 01/01/2018 19:10

TamzinGrey, that's lovely. We have been married 37 years and get on really well. We have worked together in the past and still didn't get on each other's nerves.

I find it a bit sad that so many women don't want their husbands home with them. One day the husbands will retire

DagenhamRoundhouse · 01/01/2018 20:05

mydog
I know he'll retire at some stage and it's then you adapt cos you have to!
He's still working now at an age when most men have stopped, it's his own business and he's trying to get it more profitable. |Might go down to 4 days/week soon so that'll be interesting!

YANBU.

My DH and I work from home so are both home all the time. I've stolen time to myself in the room although for illness and nothing fancy. Damn bad ovarian cyst again :(

I am looking forward to us both back at work and in our full home routine though. Also looking forward to next Monday to Dd1 being back at school.

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2018 21:28

Best I can do photo wise at the moment, as she won't keep still Grin

Just realised am going to miss DH tomorrow! Contrary Mary, me.

honeyroar · 01/01/2018 21:57

No. I've loved having time with my husband. He's been off for 10 days, but unfortunately I've worked six of them, and I have to stay away when I'm at work. I've now got ten days off but he goes back to work on weds.

DramaAlpaca · 01/01/2018 21:58

Awww lovely pup, so pretty.

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2018 22:46

She's lovely but for such a small puppy, she actually shits like a horse Grin

HeadDreamer · 01/01/2018 22:48

YABVU. I’m back at work tomorrow. DH next week. I hope he doesn’t think this about me.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/01/2018 09:15

She's gorgeous Worra!
