...to feel so relieved my IL's have gone back home at last?

Just that really. They are in their 80s now and don't drive very far but live almost 3 hours away. My DH picked them up Boxing Day and is on his way back up the A1 taking them home today. They always stay best part of a week 'because it's not worth staying any less'. They are very different personalities to my own parents and have always been old for their years. They dominate the TV and my FIL is deaf but refuses to wear a hearing aid so usually the volume is on full blast. If they aren't watching the telly they are snoring in front of it! My FIL never lifts a finger to help with anything and expects my MIL or myself to wait on him! Yes I know he is 80 something but he's been like this for decades! Sorry to rant but my patience has been well and truly tested. I appreciate my DH loves having them to stay and that we may not have many more Xmas's with them. I am a grumpy old bag who just likes her space!!!

Maybe you could 'fix' the volume on the tv for their next visit,
