My McDonalds milkshake really was too thick

Yes. Not a. AIBU but following some thread I read a few months back about looney customer complaints.

One was that the milkshakes in McDonalds were too thick- met with many sniggers.

Today I bought one and oh my I gave myself fish face and burst an eye vessel in the process. Took me 45mins of full on suck power BlushShock

I didn't however complain...

It was Vanilla, it was hard work, it was hard work. 'Teas worth it Wink

Happy 2018 all!

Should I have asked for a calibration of the shake kind?

VivaLeBeaver · 01/01/2018 00:26

My husband would tell me it’s good practice!

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2018 00:27

I thought that was the whole point. I haven't had many but can hardly get them up the straw without virtually passing out.

I had a very nice spiced cookie latte from McDonalds though, no problems with them. Grin

Gacapa · 01/01/2018 00:27

The 'recalibrate the machine' poster, on that thread, was my favourite of 2017.

Cool as fuck.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2018 00:29

I remember that thread vaguely, so much angst about a fast food milkshake. Grin

chipsandpeas · 01/01/2018 00:29

trick is to let it melt a bit

ReturnofSaturn · 01/01/2018 00:31

Can someone confirm as i havent been back to UK for years, are the milkshakes called thickshakes there or just milkshakes?

Where i am here in Oz theyre called thickshakes and couldnt for the life of me remember if they called that back home.
Yes im a saddo. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2018 00:33

Just milkshakes AFAIK Return.

feelslikearockandahardplace · 01/01/2018 00:34

I cannot remember a time in the last 10 years at least where the milkshake machine was working in McDonald's so it hasn't been a problem for me.

Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2018 00:36

The ingredients are not great. Sad No pork fat but a few E numbers.

I loved the sporadic ongoing bickering that ran through that thread re the milkshake machine.

AlmostChristmas · 01/01/2018 00:40

It's a rare treat for me but boy did I get some practice this morning Wink

Surely they would have to 'recalibrate' the machine for each customer depending on their thickness preference. The bickering was v funny.

AlmostChristmas · 01/01/2018 00:44

Catched in all seriousness, no.

My DD found it amusing though apparently I sounded like a snuffly pig Blush

Mmmm...... McDonalds fries dipped in vanilla milk shake, 'tis the food of the Gods.

BattleCuntGalactica · 01/01/2018 00:48

oh my I gave myself fish face and burst an eye vessel in the process. Took me 45mins of full on suck power

I'm dying Grin

AlmostChristmas · 01/01/2018 00:49

Not tried that, fishybits, dunked in vanilla flavour? Grin

Witchend · 01/01/2018 00:49

When I was a teen we used to go to a milkshake bar and ask for a thick milkshake or a thin one.

One time dm offered to buy me something from McDs drive thru as a treat-I think the only time she took me to McDs as a child. So I asked for a thick chocolate milkshake. She repeated it through the speaker, and we got to the desk to find SIX chocolate milkshakes lined up for me. Grin
The were really good about it and didn't charge us.

Runningbutnotscared · 01/01/2018 00:51

I know it’s in the past but if you just ask them to recalibrate the machine .......

WorraLiberty · 01/01/2018 00:52

That's a serious health and safety issue which you should have complained about OP.

5 customers sucking on their milkshakes at the same time, could have caused the windows to cave in.

8DaysAWeek · 01/01/2018 00:53

I remember reading that thread and being in the minority that think that when you can't physically suck the drink out through a straw there has to be a problem with the machine! I don't have many McDonalds milkshakes but I do know that I've had some pleasant drinkable ones and some very unpleasant ones as OP has described!

I'm glad I'm not the only one annoyed by the dismissal of non-drinkable milkshake being a machine and not user issue GrinWink

AlmostChristmas · 01/01/2018 00:55

Witchend does your mum have a lisp?

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 01/01/2018 00:56

I reckon you could get one of those horrible McFlurrys up a straw no problem. They melt as soon as you look at them.

JustAnIdiot · 01/01/2018 00:56

The only time I had a McD milkshake was in 1996, with an already gippy tummy. No idea why I fancied one - I hate anything thick & slimy (ahem!).

10 minutes later, I was copiously sick. Ugh.
