What to do?

OP posts:

Contact Ikea, and tell them of the error? Failing to see why it's even a question to be honest....

inkandstone · 31/12/2017 15:02

Refuse delivery? Or is it too late for that?

Rossigigi · 31/12/2017 15:02

Could you have 'not accepted' it? I'm assuming you signed for it etc and it wasn't just left outside your door!

BrokeAndBad · 31/12/2017 15:07

The delivery driver said I'm just a delivery driver, the truck is loaded with items in order of delivery...

I phoned them twice over the past couple of days to ensure it was cancelled and they still delivered it?!Angry

They've emailed the credit note ffs

You should have refused delivery. Now you will have to contact them and tell them.

SunshineTheMonkey · 31/12/2017 15:12

Are you hoping someone will say keep it and spend the credit note too?

Because they'll know and will want their money back.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/12/2017 15:13

ring them again., tell them it has been delivered and the driver refgused to keep it. ask them to collect it within x days. seek legal advice to see if you can dispose of it if not collected.

OhBeggerItsChristmas · 31/12/2017 15:16

a) arrange with Ikea to pick it up (at their expense), they might even let you keep it if it is easier or cheaper for them.

b) keep it and use a stolen mattress. It was delivered by mistake, if you don't try to return it and you keep it you are keeping something you or someone else hasn't paid for. If you sent something to someone incorrectly you would appreciate it if they tried to get it back to you.

c) Decide you want it and arrange to pay for it and keep it.

d) use it as a trampoline.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

SilverySurfer · 31/12/2017 15:19

What do you mean, what to do? It's not rocket science is it. Phone them to arrange a collection date. If you keep it without paying for it, it's theft. Hmm

nikkylou · 31/12/2017 15:27

Sometimes you need to be very insistent you don't want it with the delivery driver. But now you be got it, call Ikea and tell them to collect from you. Keep it safe and in the same condition it arrived with you. Threats of leaving it in the rain etc. may result in you being charged.

TheHungryDonkey · 31/12/2017 15:32

No thank you it’s not mine and shut the door should have solved it really.

Snowman41 · 31/12/2017 15:41

How can you not know what to do?

You just phone them

Beakyplinders · 31/12/2017 15:57

What do you mean, what should you do?

You shouldn't have accepted it in the first place, despite what the driver said, as it's not yours now you've cancelled the order. Now you have accepted it, call Ikea and get them to take it away. Simple.

ConciseandNice · 31/12/2017 16:01

OP has phoned them. Twice! They’re shit. I had This with Amazon even after I refused a delivery of a one grand laptop. In the end I paid thirty quid tracked delivery to get it back to them because they weren’t interested. Ridiculous.

Snowman41 · 31/12/2017 16:05

OP has phoned them. Twice

Why has he phoned them twice? What did they say the first time? Did he resolve it the second time?

Snowman41 · 31/12/2017 16:05

Sorry I misread that post, ignore above post

Snowman41 · 31/12/2017 16:06

OP phoned them twice BEFORE the delivery. They then came on and asked what to do about said delivery.

Beakyplinders · 31/12/2017 16:12

I just don't understand why the delivery was accepted, there's no way I would accept a mattress I didn't want.

FlouncyDoves · 31/12/2017 16:17

I had an Ikea mattress delivered today too. Bloody love ikea beds. No wonder Benson for Beds are going broke. I ordered it 4 days ago. Could choose my delivery date (even et this time of year). Had a tracking text sent showing me where the delivery driver was in real time and how many deliveries they had to do before mine (which was great as we’re tricky to find). The chaps carried it all to the room I wanted.

Brilliant service. Now I just have to put the bloody thing together!
