Smoking weed is......

LockJawTrouble · 29/12/2017 22:17

Just trying to make sense of things. Is it me or smoking weed is not normal? I am fed up of this excuse to the point, where I think I need some reconfirmation , to make sure I am not the only one thinking that.

OP posts:
DamsonGin · 01/01/2018 19:02

OK, person I know needs to leave it all alone and it's just not happening.

Ta1kinPeace · 01/01/2018 19:05

Marijuana / Mental health : correlation is not causation.

Because marijuana is illegal in lots of countries, the standard of research into cause and effect is very poor.
The bulk of it is done in Mental Health units which is a pretty crap sampling method.
(the equivalent is assuming all drinkers are park bench alcoholics rather than normal folks).

Sadly the largest experiments on legalisation are in the US where it is still illegal to use Federal funds to unravel the truth.

Many people with MH issues use drugs to alleviate their symptoms.

  • alcohol
  • tobacco
  • prescription drugs
  • nox
  • illegal drugs
  • self harming / eating disorders
the one they pick varies but the drugs often come after the problem, not before.

LoniceraJaponica I bet they are! Half of adults in this country are overweight and are putting a massive strain on the NHS - and people on here are moaning about smoking a bit of pot...

Frusso · 01/01/2018 19:26

I bet a fair few of the ladies on this thread against smoking pot are overweight fatties with sugar addictions and visit their GPs about 50 times a year just to moan

'fraid not. Sorry to disappoint. Grin

Being against smoking pot, or indeed against any recreational drug usage does not have any correlation with any of the above.

OP, no, smoking pot is not normal. Anyone who is using that as a argument is clutching at non-existent straws in order to minimise the abnormality of it.

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 19:28

How does fatshaming help argue for legalization! Its just mean.

Damson, are they buying illegally? Skunk is very psychoactive and might not help someone with anxiety.

There are a lot different strains of pot, from 100 percent indica, which doesn't have that speedy paranoid edge that some experience, to hybrids, and the cerebal fast sativas.

I only smoke grown in mud, organic indica. Not hydroponic skunk.

All pot is not the same.

ohfortuna · 01/01/2018 19:44

OP, no, smoking pot is not normal
Can you just clarify what you mean by normal ?
what are the criteria that something has to satisfy in order to be considered normal?
For instance do you mean common place, do you mean benign, socially approved of?

DamsonGin · 01/01/2018 19:46

Leather, they buy illegally to my knowledge so probably skunk, I'm NC with them but know from supporting their children's other parent.

Lillybilly20 · 01/01/2018 19:54

Leatherbatwings I’m a fatty myself ‘fat shaming’ is nonsense! I’m just pointing out that none of us are perfect nor lead perfect lives. I don’t smoke pot myself but I do eat too much and it’s really bad for me and that’s not great! So I cannot criticise someone who smokes pot because I am in no way healthy or perfect! People in glasshouses should not throw stones etc etc... and i’m sure none of the previous posters have ever parked illegally or driven too fast. They must just be perfect beings who do no wrong 😂

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 19:56

Skunk is no good for someone with mental health issues. How you get them to move to a more benign strain, I dont know.

I've had skunk, not a pleasant experience. Very overemotional, speedy. Legally you can buy skunk, but I avoid it.

Good news is that its non addicting physically. I hope they are they are not helping themselves or their mental health.

There is a huge difference between strains, I wouldn't go near blue magoo for instance, but happily smoke any landrace indica.

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 20:02

Live and let live, Lilly. The world is cruel enough without fat shaming name calling.

Im just grateful I live in a legal place!
Ive a chronic health condition, and the doctor suggested medical marijuana. As a result I dont need pain pills, and a lot of symptoms improved.

ShatnersWig · 01/01/2018 20:05

Curry I know my friends very well and have spent a lot of time with them over the last two decades. As only one of them smokes now, two are ex-smokers and the rest, like me, have never smoked, I'm pretty certain I'm right and you're wrong in this instance.

Lillybilly20 · 01/01/2018 20:05

Leatherbatwings Fat shaming is utter nonsense. I’m fat and I’m not ashamed 😂

ohfortuna · 01/01/2018 20:07

Ive a chronic health condition, and the doctor suggested medical marijuana. As a result I dont need pain pills, and a lot of symptoms improved
That's bloody fantastic isn't it 😊😁😀

CurryWorst · 01/01/2018 20:08

I'm pretty certain I'm right and you're wrong in this instance

You've spent a lot of time with ALL of your "very large number of friends"? And you know everything they do?

Sure you do, Columbo.

CurryWorst · 01/01/2018 20:10

Only one of my friends smokes, so smoking weed just doesn't happen in my circle of friends

You can be a stoner and not smoke cigarettes at all! I don't smoke tobacco.

ohfortuna · 01/01/2018 20:12

Same here I have never smoked tobacco but I used to smoke cannabis regularly sometimes I used a vaporizer but other times just roll up a spliff with just cannabis

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 20:12

Ofortuna, it is great! Without it ild be quite unwell and in pain. The only drawback is bad munchies, but im strict with myself on that.

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 20:17

Thank you to the denture holding bong poster. I didnt find any denture holding bongs, but did discover that denture tablets clean bongs up! Thank you :-) I was wondering how to get the resin off my silicone bong!

Frusso · 01/01/2018 20:19

Can you just clarify what you mean by normal ?
what are the criteria that something has to satisfy in order to be considered normal?
For instance do you mean common place, do you mean benign, socially approved of?

Based on what the OP has said, op lives with someone who smokes pot, and is constantly told that "it is normal."
Okay, so criteria; is it legal? is it something you do in public? It is culturally acceptable? Is it socially acceptable?

celticecho · 01/01/2018 20:28

Honestly, if I could find a strain that would work really well for pain relief but without the horror of the crappy paranoia I've experienced in the past, I'm sure I would probably be a marijuana user!
I suffer from Fibromyalgia and use CBD in a vape tank to help, but I'm sure that the "real thing" would be even better!

user1475317873 · 01/01/2018 20:32

Not acceptable for me. I don't know anybody in my circle of friends or family who smokes weed or take drugs; not even when I went to university. I always judge anybody who does drugs to be uneducated, low class people but I know this is not the case in the UK and lots of middle class and rich people find it acceptable which I still find hard to understand. I didn't grow up in the UK though. I still find quite hard to understand why parents allow their children to do it and allow them to have parties in their houses with drugs and allow underage children to drink alcohol. I think parents are becoming too permissive imho.

19lottie82 · 01/01/2018 20:39

I don't know anybody in my circle of
friends or family who smokes weed or
take drugs

If you really think there’s no one that you know who smokes weed then you’re very naive!

Leatherbatwings · 01/01/2018 20:40

Celtic, any sativa strain will do the paranoid anxious thing.

I use purple hindu kush or purple chakra. Any landrace indica strain will help.

Pm me if I can help.

LoniceraJaponica · 01/01/2018 20:44

I don"t think she is being naive. If you know loads of people who smoke weed that is your normal. My normal is that my circle of family and friends don't. The two can coexist you know Hmm

Indigo911 · 01/01/2018 20:45

I have a couple of friends who wouldn’t have the faintest inkling that I smoke weed because I keep it very well hidden from them. I know they’d be against it and judge me unfairly.
