Every WaPo headline that has made me do a double-take has been an opinion piece by Ed Rogers. Too bad they don't disclose his ties to Russia or do a more selective job vetting opinion writers. It's disappointing to see the WaPo name on Russia PR pieces.

inequitable?
As in the opposite of equitable? Odd choice of word.

Fox shouldn't even have mentioned it.

@RachelAzzara

  1. There is a shift in #TheResistance. I felt it last night and see it growing today. The dog and pony show of Bannon and DT, the shockingly not shocking release of #FireAndFury combined with a GOP that isn't even pretending they aren't obstructing justice. It is sickening.
  2. What we're feeling is the grim reality that the #GOP won't do anything to stop the assault on our country, our democracy and our people. There is no BOOM moment, no worthy impeachable offense. Make no mistake, we will take Congress in 2018, but where will we be in a year?
  3. Some damage can be undone with time and effort, some damage will scar us forever. The damage of an electorate without a voice, living at the mercy of 'representation' that flagrantly believes it is above the law is permanent damage to our country.
  4. We must focus on midterms, yes. We must keep resisting and fighting the horrendous policy pouring out of this administration, yes. But, we must do more. We must be active and visible. We must demand appropriate responses and let it be known there are consequences.
  5. Congress is protected from lawsuits by the Constitution, but there are other recourses. We can initiate recall elections within their districts/states at the will of their constituents. With low approval ratings and the power of #TheResistance this should give them pause.
  6. To let them know we're serious, I'm asking you to sign this petition demanding their resignation. This is their chance to step down on their own and also to see the amount of people who are willing to demand their recall

www.change.org/p/chuck-grassley-demand-graham-grassley-mcconnell-ryan-and-nunes-resign-for-dereliction-of-duty?recruiter=573092639&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=share_twitter_responsive

  1. We are not powerless. And damn them for thinking they have the right to make us feel like we are. We RISE up. We show them what democracy looks like and we do it every day.

Trump's given me a deep distrust of anyone with that level of money, but so far, I'm impressed.

The Trump Administration has asked the Supreme Court to reverse the Court of Appeals’ latest decision to declare the travel ban unconstitutional. We will oppose, and look forward to the Court’s review of Trump’s petition.

Do you reckon he actually read it? in any case, he’s doing a great job promoting the book, and proving some key points: his utter vindictiveness, lack of wisdom, and schoolyard petty behaviour.

Donald J. Trump Retweeted GOP
Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book. He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!

Lweji · 06/01/2018 08:31

Trump does not read books. (Say it like Joey from Friends)

Because it is/was the 12th day of Christmas:

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 06/01/2018 08:39

According to joe Scarborough and also Wolff, trump can’t really read, though that just seems so incomprehensible that I’m not sure I believe it.

My legal team is sending a CEASE & DESIST notice to @RealDonaldTrump for him to STOP calling Steve Bannon by MY nickname. You don’t get to re-gift a nickname. Trump designated me as the original “Sloppy.” And, henceforth, Bannon will be known as "Sloppy Seconds Steve Bannon!!"

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/01/2018 08:43

To be fair he does seem to be able to read a teleprompter sometimes - unless of course his prompts are given in picture form.

Roussette · 06/01/2018 08:44

I can quite believe Trump can't read properly. It's a skill you learn and use all the time and if he rarely reads, he won't be able to skim read, pick out points in a para, understand words he rarely sees written down, precis important points in his hea etc, which is why he's always had this bullet point list in the mornings because that's all his reading ability allows him to do.

Eric Boehlert
@EricBoehlert
let's be perfectly clear, this would've been like GOP senators in 1973 demanding FBI investigate Woodward and Bernstein

this stuff is off the charts into fascism

And

The Hoarse Whisperer
@HoarseWisperer
Ok, I’ve been thinking through the Graham-Grassley noise re: referring Christopher Steele for investigation.

I think I get the game now...

1/

Earlier this week, Steele’s employers, FusionGPS penned an Op-Ed in the Times that dramatically upped the pressure on Congress to release transcripts of their testimony.

That would be quite bad for Republicans.

2/

Lo and behold, a few days later, Graham and Grassley release a PR stunt letter insinuating the guy responsible for the info in the FusionGPS testimony is less than honest.

3/

On the surface, this just muddies the waters.

However, I suspect it was done to create a pretext for not releasing the transcripts.

4/

Now, congressional R’s can say that the testimony in those transcripts is the subject of an investigation, so it would be inappropriate to release them.

It’s the congressional version of “I’d release my taxes but they’re under audit.”

5/

t’s actually a pretty clever gambit if that’s the strategy. It blunts the pressure to release the transcripts...

...however, as Republicans are apt to do, it creates unintended consequences.

6/

First, it sets the precedent that suspicion of dishonest testimony is grounds for federal to the DOJ for investigation.

Once Dems get that, they’ll use that same logic to call for criminal referrals for everyone from Junior to Kushner to Sessions.

7/

Second, it actually increases the scrutiny on the claims in the PR stunt letter - which revolve around what Steele said about his contacts with reporters.

That will inevitably lead to a re-litigation of all of the things reporters reported - which have now been corrobrated.

8/

At the end of the day, I suspect Graham and Grassley think they just found a clever way to dodge the bullet of releasing the FusionGPS transcripts...

...only to discover that they’ve merely kicked that can down the road while pumping a cpl new shells into their own feet.

p.s. in #7 or #8, it should have read “grounds for referral to the DOJ”

I curse you, small keyboard!

p.p.s. Just to amplify all of this, the release of the FusionGPS testimony will be a “point of no return” moment.

Releasing their testimony will not just let the genie out of the bottle, it will smash the bottle for good.

R’s have good reason to dread that.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 06/01/2018 08:53

The little bit of maddow ive watched this morning is painting a terrifying picture of how the gop babe weaponised the rule of law. I wonder when it’ll be acceptable to call out the present situation as fascist. Wolff’s book, for whatever flaws it might have, seems to have at least made it more possible to say out loud what everyone knew already. Hopefully this extends to speaking plainly about the danger of the situation.

Roussette · 06/01/2018 09:02

For those of us not buying the book, this link has lots from it
