I've been ill all over xmas, now DD is ill. The house is a tip as a result.

Dd's boyfriend is here, she's in bed ill and I feel like crap but I am now cooking his fucking lunch. I just want to slob in my pyjamas.

Surely he should just do the decent thing and fuck off home?

Rant over...he's lovely but I don't want him here right now.

You need to stop being so possessive of that room, or you'll always get what you've always got.

If not, you'll spend the rest of your life in this position I expect.

Belonger · 29/12/2017 13:32

Just really sad about the example this is setting for your daughter.

HappyAndRelaxed · 29/12/2017 13:33

Send him home. Tell him he is welcome to call back again when everyone is feeling better.

MeadowHay · 29/12/2017 13:40

^ What Worra said. Can't cope with women who moan about running about after everyone doing all the cooking even when they're sick etc only to found out they can't cope with anyone else daring to enter their beloved kitchen. Get a life. It's a kitchen.

coalit · 29/12/2017 13:41

Belonger I bet your not half as sad as I was when DD's boyfriend ruined my new worktop.

Helenaslexandria · 29/12/2017 13:43

Agree with YellowFlower201 on first page! He probably has no idea he's imposing tbf (assuming they're youngsters). YANBU to want him to go, but YABU to expect a young person to perceive that when you are cooking him dinner. Have a word with our daughter and get well soon!

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 13:43

Update us after lunch Brizzle :)

StatelessPrincess · 29/12/2017 13:45

Another martyr to add to the ever growing Mumsnet pile
This.

labazs · 29/12/2017 13:47

no way would i cook for him if he is willing to chance being ill by catching something then he should look after himself point to kitchen say get on with it! i would say maybe he could help you by tidying up a bit but thats probably hoping for too much for a fella!

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2017 13:50

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 29/12/2017 13:51

Be blunt. Tell him you’re too ill to cook for yourself let alone him. Unless he wants to wash the pots, sweep hard floors, do a couple of washloads and run the vacuum round the sitting room he can go and not return until you’re all fit.

He’s a young man, they tend to be oblivious to the bleeding obvious.

brizzledrizzle · 29/12/2017 13:54

Update us after lunch Brizzle smile

DD is throwing up, he's sitting in her bedroom with her holding her hair out of the way and has brought me a coffee and some biscuits.

I never understand the logic of doing something you don’t have to do, and then complaining about it.

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 29/12/2017 13:58

*Actually Worra I hate anyone in my kitchen! It's my domain!

ptumbi · 29/12/2017 13:59

How did he make coffee without setting foot in your domain, op?

Or did you make it yourself?

dotdotdotmustdash · 29/12/2017 14:00

DD is throwing up, he's sitting in her bedroom with her holding her hair out of the way

He's definitely earned his lunch!

Also pudding.

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 14:03

Marmalade that was me, not OP!

I didn't mind if exH cooked (how gracious of me) but if I were in there I would expect to not get bothered.

I wouldn't like it if outside household people started pinging around in there. Maybe it's peculiar but I just don't like it (aside from tea/coffee/etc)

brizzledrizzle · 29/12/2017 14:03

He waved a magic wand and it just appeared.

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 29/12/2017 14:04

I know it was you Bullet I was asking you!

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2017 14:08

What is all this 'pinging' around and 'faffing' around?

It's just normal people entering the room, making themselves something to eat and then leaving the room again.

I'm starting to understand why some people claim their DPs and offspring are 'useless' in the kitchen.

They're probably too bloody nervous to enter it Confused

BulletFox · 29/12/2017 14:09

Oh ok, Marmalade. I'd only ever shared a kitchen with exH. He wasn't a bad cook actually but if I were cooking he'd get underneath my feet and I'd start to get irritated.

I wouldn't really like it if visitors started cooking proper meals, unless arranged beforehand. Sandwich would be ok.

Sorry Brizzle for derailing!

diddl · 29/12/2017 14:11

Why is your house a tip because you were ill?

brizzledrizzle · 29/12/2017 14:15

Why is your house a tip because you were ill?

Because I've been using plates and cups and haven't washed up until it was essential, because I haven't vacuumed and dusted or done the laundry.

WorraLiberty · 29/12/2017 14:16

Does your DD live with you OP?

diddl · 29/12/2017 14:17

So you live alone?
