How long would it take you to notice a missing item of crockery?

And does it vary depending on the item?

I am genuinely interested I reckon my times would be-

Plate - 24 hours, I recently stopped buying crockery (clumsy DS) so we are now down to 5. This means that this is usually noticed when we are are dishing up tea.

Bowl/Small plate - 1-3 days. Again down to 5 and 4 respectively but will rarely use multiple bowls at the same time so would require me to want a bowl and the others being unwashed to noticed.

Cup - Never, I have apx 1000 cups.

Any item of cutlery - Never, none of it matches and I seem to collect it as if by magic.

TAAT? Grin

I wouldn't notice any of these things. Except perhaps one specific type of bowl. I've tonnes of crockery, I'm not counting it.

Probably never, by the time I wondered where it was I’d think I’d forgotten it being broken...,

Tessliketrees · 29/12/2017 03:09

Well I posted a while ago about finding a plate in my sons drawers which puzzled me at the time, admittedly a thread tonight reminded me of that so I thought I would ask the question.

I did find a pan lid Christmas Day, do not own a pan to match and no memory of every owning such pan.. maybe I have a selective amnesia when it comes to household goods...

I am so glad that kind of thing happens to other people. I have an assortment of household items of unknown origin.

Maybe it is yours, it has to come from somewhere. I don't suppose you have all my missing pillow cases do you?

I know and love every piece of crockery in my house. I don't have anything random or things I find less than beautiful so I would notice immediately.

LostSight · 29/12/2017 03:58

About as long as iit takes me to open the cupboard to find it lurking in the bin.

If it’s not in the bin, I’d assume it was in my daughter’s bedroom. Grin

As soon as I opened the relevant cupboard/drawer & then I'd do a quick scan to see what's been dumped on the work surface to be washed by the fairies if the total amount for each thing isn't 8 then I have to risk life & limb venture into the hovel DD's bedroom.

No idea why I have 8 of everything as there's only 2 if us live here Hmm
