Please be gentle!! This is a fairly sensitive topic for me Blush

Since I was a teenager, I've been really self-conscious about my nose.

It's become more of a problem now (i.e. I've felt even more self-conscious about it) with photos being put on social media where anyone can see them.

I also had a pretty nasty comment from someone once (who has form for being a bit thoughtless), who asked me why my nose looked like a witch's nose Blush

Basically, my nose is thin at the top and then widens out and looks a bit bulbous at the tip. As it's thin at the top and then widens out, it has a wonky, bumpy profile that I hate Blush I hate seeing myself in photos, especially if my nose is in profile Blush.

Anyway, for a couple of years now, I've seriously considered the possibility of having plastic surgery to straighten it and sort it out.

Someone who I know very well has had surgery on their nose from a particularly well-known practice in London, and they seem very happy.

The problem is that the surgery would cost £10,000. I am very lucky to have recently been given £10,000 in savings from a relative. I really don't feel that I could justify this on a nose operation, even though I feel that it would make me more comfortable and less self-conscious. It's an absolutely huge amount of money. I personally feel that, rationally, it would be a much better idea to put that money towards saving to buy a house, for example. (I also understand that nose surgery can be very painful and it can take a week to recover from the operation, so a week of annual leave would need to be taken from my job after the operation. While this is a concern, the cost of the operation is a far bigger worry for me).

I had an initial consultation arranged with the surgeon for this month, after booking it several months ago (I think I booked it in spring this year). The initial consultation cost £300 Blush

I cancelled the consultation earlier this month, and was refunded the full £300. But the possibility of having surgery at some point is still playing on my mind.

What should I do? Sad

Thanks for your advice.

I've attached a (terrible) pic Blush

I would also advise people that it's worth travelling a bit of a distance to see a good surgeon .

I think ur nose is not too bad. Actually i had worse, believe me. I literally looked like cartoon witch. But because i could not look at myself anymore i did undergo surgery. Actually it did not cost 10 000 pounds, i do not know where did u come to that amount-wow. I payed for my around 3000 eur and had it done in Prague what is maybe cheaper. But still even the consultations were for free at Forme clinic and i had mine few times via Skype. Anyway i am happy for my new nose and hopefully you will decide right. Good luck

I haven’t RTFT.
10k is more than double what I was quoted from a highly recommended surgeon in the north west! Couldn’t have it done because of other issues but omg.

Have you considered non surgical rhinoplasty? There’s nothing wrong with your nose at all but it’s a much much cheaper option. Lasts 12-18months and can cost between £190-300

Your nose is perfectly fine. Don't swap for a plastic one!! My nose is huge...and a snub nose. It's my unique feature. Spend the money on yourself but not a fake nose x

Pereie · 09/03/2018 06:53

I want to know why it's costing 10k though.

Never ever heard of a rhinoplasty costing that much.

Shop around, spend 5k max on a new nose and spend 1k on counselling. Save 4K for your future.

Seriously an investment in your self is the smartest one you can make. You don't have to tell anyone you are getting it done either - it's your body and your money. Get it done, hide yourself away for a couple of weeks and then get a new haircut before you see everyone again. They will be so distracted by your hair they won't even notice the new nose.

Reported last post as it is clearly spam. Hmm

ShirleyValentineswall · 08/04/2018 16:09

Yep I reported as well, and posts on another three threads.

Oddcat · 08/04/2018 16:15

I had mine done and if it's what you want then go for it - do NOT pay £10,000 though ! I would expect it to be more in the region of £5,000 .

DextroDependant · 08/04/2018 16:25

I am going through double jaw surgery this month as I hate how I look, I would love a nose job too. Lots of people have said I am mad and look fine.

Basically I am saying do what makes you happy. Your nose looks fine to me but of you aren't happy with it then change it while you have chance.
