What weird gifts have you received?

I've escaped with pretty normal gifts so far (minus individually wrapped Lindt chocolates from my grandma) but my teetotal DP has just received 2 bottles of rum from my DF thanks dad

Have you/family had any weird ones?

I got a onesie, slippers, a hat, a scarf and gloves. Apparently I am cold all the time, either that or boring af and go on about how cold I am all the time...

Also a skincare set for dry to very dry skin, when I am 35 and still get adult acne.. And an eyeshadow set. It's been years since I have worn eyeshadow.

All the winter stuff is shades of brown. I'm a black wearer.

None of this is particularly weird but I'm ungrateful and disappointed and it's letting me vent. Yes I'm a terrible person.

DH and I buy each other pyjamas every year for Christmas Eve. Generally we get nice ones from Fat Face or similar, sometimes he gets me some from Cath Kidston, and it's a running thing that I like pyjamas with funky animal prints on them. This year I got a pyjama set with a long sleeve fleece top (why would anyone make nightwear in fleece?) featuring Tatty Teddy. They do at least fit though.

... From OH 3 pairs of leather gloves exactly the same. I found it a bit odd and my face kinda made that obvious . He said one pair for each car and one for my bag. I sort of see the logic but WTAF

A spatula. Just the one. Not even a particularly nice one...

This pair of ceramic cats from DH’s nan. He’s trying to persuade me to keep them but I think they may sadly end up in the charity shop bag. She also gave me a calendar consisting of pictures of squirrels which I’ll keep as it makes me chuckle!

My uncle bought my husband a fishing hat. He doesn't fish, nor has he ever wore a hat.

Same uncle bought me a really large wooden statue of an elephant holding a palm tree leaf in its trunk. Hideous. Will have to leave in my mantle until New Year's Day when it can go in the loft, to be brought down when he comes from Scotland for his bi annnual visit.

Also told my brother I was looking forward to recording Harry Potter over Christmas and he bought me a Harry Potter wand. Actually love this though!

I love it because it's for My Lovely Soap only. Ordinary soap is available on the old dish for everyone else.

Anti wrinkle cream from my MIL, think she is trying to tell me something

Pipe cleaners for craft projects apparently. It did get better from there thank goodness but that was the first present I opened.

Not a weird gift in itself, in fact very nice, but MIL have DH and I 4 x £25 Next gift cards, so that we didn’t have to spend them all at once, like we would have to if she gave us a £100 one. Umm don’t think she understands how gift cards work grin

Thats how gift cards used to work in a lot of places many years ago, you had to spend the amount on the card in one go and didnt get change/vouchers made up to the amount left over.

Could you half hide those in the garden Yessica? They might scare the daylights out of passing cats looking

Some hand sanitizer. I was a MW until very recently. Maybe they thought I might miss the smell? Or maybe they are just hinting I'm a dirty cow.

This thread is hilarious. I’ve been relatively lucky and not had any weird gifts in my time. Although my mum once received relaxer shampoo for afro hair, she’s white. My sis received a teddy once from a uncle. The teddy was a potty training teddy. It sang a delightful pooh song however sister was 15 so had managed to master the toilet a few years prior.

My mum buying me men’s handkerchiefs. Since I don’t have any.

She once bought my husband a pair of embroidiery scissors.

I quite like the cats

Dp gave me, what looks like a bag of mould. He's informed me it's mushroom compost, as though that makes more sense

Leaving aside bonkers relatives with good intentions, my god there’s some shot presents here. A packet of crisps? Why on earth wouldn’t the giver take you shopping a few days before Christmas and let you pick something out? Like my dh did who apparently didn’t know what to get me this year, despite giving me a fantastic present last year.

Was the bag of rice off Uncle Ben ?.

Tammy- fleece pyjamas make me sweat like a bitch. However they are really useful in freezing weather. It's worth keeping them for a snowy day.

A Christmas card with a voucher for ONE cup of coffee. That's it. From my DH. And he's very proud of himself because he 'knows I like coffee'.

DB bought DH a case of Strongbow Dark Fruits cider.....DH doesn't drink and hasn't for many years! I even messaged DB tonight just to confirm we hadn't got the tags mixed up and he said yeah it's for him, hope he likes it.... wtf?!
