..... I discovered early drinking, it really helps, it's amazing. Even MIL can't upset me or the moody teens.

Started with a Bloody Mary about 10.30, moving on to the prossecco an hour later. Dinner is in the oven, all is well.

Chin chin!

I think that’s a marvellous idea but I’m always driving later so I can’t have a boozey start. Probably for the best!

FluffyWuffy100 · 25/12/2017 12:54

@BeverlyGoldberg I’ve got to drive tonight... early champagne then lunch and a sleep and a walk and some supper then ok to drive!

DaffodilsAreMyFav · 25/12/2017 12:55

I like your style Big.

Noofly · 25/12/2017 13:12

I made everything in advance so it’s all ready to go from the fridge or freezer straight into the oven. I too started drinking this morning as I am figuring that with my soberly prepared timetable of sticking things in/out if the oven, I can’t go too wrong. Grin

We always have friends over for champagne at 10.30. They go home for their dinner. Works well for us (4 empty bottles later). We do all the food prep before they arrive.

Tistheseason17 · 25/12/2017 13:23

ha ha ha, bloody love it!!! Xmas Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/12/2017 13:24

I'm on my third gin! Nice to know I've got company - drinking alone is so bad for you Xmas Grin

BrownLiverSpot · 25/12/2017 13:26

Ahhh wish I could drink... But have one for me as well!

PantPlot · 25/12/2017 13:27

10:30? Slackers.

I was on the Buck's Fizz at 8:15 Grin

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 25/12/2017 13:28

Champagne at 8.30 here 🥂

EvilRingahBitch · 25/12/2017 13:28

We bought DFIL a bottle of his favourite whisky for Christmas- it would be rude not to join him in a glass when whe unwrapped it. I had forgotten how nice a glass of good whisky could be on a winter’s day.

NC4now · 25/12/2017 13:28

That’s the trick!! I’m on call but even I’m having a sneaky (slow) Budweiser. Usually I’m half cut by now. Xmas Grin

treeofhearts · 25/12/2017 13:29

This is the secret to cooking Christmas dinner stress free.

I used to find hosting Christmas Day rather stressful until .....
slimyslitheryslug · 25/12/2017 13:30

Alcohol & M&S ready prepared food. Oh, and a DH who is an excellent cook. Sorted!

gamerchick · 25/12/2017 13:31

I hear you Grin I’ve completed my bingo card of things the mothers going to do to show her annoyance she hasn’t got her way this year and I’m a couple of bottles of ale in. Feeling quite happy. Happy Christmas!!

delilahbucket · 25/12/2017 13:33

We always start with a champagne breakfast and it's downhill from there. On our second bottle already! We tag team in the kitchen. How we cook an edible meal is beyond me but water and snacks help!

Crunchymum · 25/12/2017 13:36

Pregnant so booze free here. I am 35w so would happily have a a glass of red with dinner... if I didn't have gestational diabetes.

I'll make up for it next Christmas Wine

saltandvinegarcrisps1 · 25/12/2017 13:38

The rule is airports and Christmas day there is no "too early" for drinking

Cleanermaidcook · 25/12/2017 13:42

Cheers!
Baileys here at 8am, having a kopperburg now watching Greese while dh is having a nap and the kids are playing.
Relaxed Christmas here 😀

Frouby · 25/12/2017 13:43

I remember years ago when I was young, free and single crawling in Christmas morning at 5am. I had 15 coming for dinner at 3pm.

Had a coffee then opened the wine. Dinner was ready when they came and I had drunk myself sober then got pissed again.

Just about to open the champagne here.

Andrewofgg · 25/12/2017 13:48

Reality is an illusion caused by lack of alcohol.

maddiemookins16mum · 25/12/2017 14:04

See I used to think that but then dinner would be an hour (or more) late as I quaffed wine in the kitchen and then there was the memorable time I'd had 3 large sherries before taking the turkey out of the oven and ended up tipping it onto the kitchen floor, hot fat and all (and trying to pretend it hadn't happened until FIL came into the kitchen and found me on my knees with upturned roasting tray in front of me).

He never told a soul and kept winking at me throughout dinner.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/12/2017 14:05

I'm on very low alcohol intake due to medication. waaah!
But it was really nice to wake up this morning without a grumpy head.

MintyChops · 25/12/2017 14:05

Tucking into a massive glass of Pinot here to numb the pain of PIL and have the turkey in but nothing else prepped. Apart from the gravy! Thank you Jamie Oliver.... in fact CHEERS!

MrsGloop · 25/12/2017 14:06

Pantpot I’ve got you beat. 8:05 here and half a mimosa already down the hatch!
