Just walked in on my 34 year old husband brushing his hair having come out of the shower and his mother was standing there talking to him. He was STARK NAKED. That's so weird isn't it? I told him it was weird and said I wouldn't stand naked in front of my dad and he kind of conceded. I'm freaked out. AIBU?

Weird. No hang ups about nudity and I wouldn't freak out if I walked in on my adult DC getting changed or if they walked in on me but I wouldn't stand there talking to them if that happened. Normally would just say something like sorry, can you come and talk to me when you are ready.

If bloke was in his own bedroom and the mother walked in, why didn't she just turn round and sod off.
Surely not an urgent conversation that couldn't have waited 5 mins until he was dressed?

Nudity isn't the norm in my family, but I know it is in some. OP, can you ask him if he would think it unusual if you were standing naked in front of your father? I'm just really curious about the answer. I would guess he probably wouldn't, but can't help wondering.

when my children are nude, its not because "i want to see their knob" and I imagine that in this instance, the fact that anyone is naked is irrelevent. If i got changed in front of my mum it would be because we didnt care, not because either of us want to see the others fanny.

Nothing to do with superior, just different traditions. In other countries everyone goes to the sauna naked or sun bathes topless, and no one thinks anything of it. No one ogles, there's nothing sexual about it at all, no one makes you embarrassed in any way. In the sauna you just sit down, enjoy the heat, then dunk into cold water and get dressed again. It really isn't weird at all, and folk of all ages do it. At least no one gets a shock when they see a wrinkly old person for the first time :)

I suppose it's just as weird and yucky for some cultures that women in Britain don't cover up decently, maybe it's the same.

My mother in law always calls my husband upstairs when she's in the bath or getting dressed - I find it very bizarre... can you not get dressed and just come down..

Actually i do/have had a chat with my dad with boobs and fanny out Moana. We are a nudey family and no one cares. I often shower when over there and get ready in the same bedroom as my Dad. We just chatter away and get on with getting dressed.

If he'd just come out of the shower and they came across each other - not weird at all. They just don't have hangups about nudity. My family don't either.

As long as they are both OK with it, it shouldn't be an issue at all.
