there were a couple of shocking but entertain threads last year or the year before about a poster whose upper class mil never cooked her anything veggie for Christmas and wouldn't let her bring anything, and maybe on the same thread or another a big discussion about in laws odd Christmas eating habits, being stranded with 2 roast potatoes and 5 kids, and penis portions - can anyone remember enough details to post a link to these? I think i might need them to get through cooking Christmas lunch at the in laws... Also I'd love to know if the veggie poster has got fed this year!

When we were children my aunt would cook my brother and male cousin steak and give myself and female cousin chicken, never complained though as I hate steak. Very odd thinking indeed

My Dh actively makes sure I get some food at MILs because his greedy sister actively "protects" all the good stuff!

My DC were small and had been given a piece of fish each...which they ate as they like it....she saw DH serve them and said this. As a note, my DC do not waste food or overeat.

A small child sized portion with a bit of what adults are having is whatthey're used to.

Funnily enough, now she has a child...she literally RUNS to grab the best things for her son when MIL brings dishes out.

My mother does penis portions but it's ok because everyone gets enough to feed a wrestler. The men just get slightly more but the women and kids still get groaning plates.

I've just re-read the thread where the DIL asked for more and then served herself and got the huffy silent treatment from her MIL.

She sore she would never go back to them for a visit. I'd love to know how that turned out.

I'm currently about 3 stone overweight. I have a number of serious health issues that have contributed to it. In the summer, we had a friend of DH's and his wife stay. I have never liked the wife all that much- everything has to go her way or she strops. Not a good look in a 50 year old.

Anyway, despite me not mentioning my weight gain at all, she mentioned it the next morning when I offered to make everyone bacon butties. She laughed and said;'I can see I', going to have to teach you how to eat more healthily while I'm here!!!'.

She's never coming back for a visit either.

DH though was fuming. He also said not a word.we talked about it alot though, and agreed she would never step across our threshold again.
