To tell DH that I'm sticking to my plan?

For Christmas it's DH, Me, DD (2) and DHs best friend. We've done it this way since DD was born as family live close enough to visit on the day and it saves the arguments between DM and MIL over whose turn it is to host us (they don't get on or like each other much - had to be kept separate at our wedding) plus it means DHs BF who has no family locally has somewhere to go for Christmas.

Ask DH what he wanted for Christmas lunch in October, so I could order etc. He said he didn't fancy Turkey and as I'm not bothered and neither is his BF I decided to get a large chicken instead.

Just doing the Veg shop for Christmas dinner with DD and DH texts me to say he actually wants Turkey so could I try and get one as he really wants it Angry

I want to swing for him right now, it's 3 days to Christmas. Had he told me even a few weeks ago I could of got one but theres no chance now. Oddly enough both Tesco and Morrisons haven't got any left Hmm

So WIBU to tell him to do one? Or just starve the bastard on Monday and enjoy my Chicken anyway?

Honeyroar
I defrost mine overnight, then pop it in the oven for a couple of hours, if that, job done by the following lunchtime

You're going to poison everyone.

I feel like at lot of people are missing the point,

This thread isn't about sold out Turkeys or how long chickens are out the freezer or if they're in the fridge.

It's about OP's OH deciding last minute to do a U turn on his previous food choices and expect OP to facilitate it.

My OH has been told that anything he may want to eat for Christmas that we don't already have is on him to go and get, I refuse to go near a shop now until the 27th at a push.

LineyRunner · 23/12/2017 01:44

Isn't the thread about the OP not saying 'well go and get one then'?

VimFuego101 · 23/12/2017 01:49

So just tell him you were incredibly lucky and managed to get the last, very small, turkey on the shelf. Make him buy you something for being so thoughtless, and then cook the chicken as planned.

MotherofaSurvivor I haven't yet in 30 yrs of doing it. My house is a freezing cold 300yr old farmhouse so probably as cold as your fridge!

You're cooking a chicken for ten hours in the slow cooker? That's a new one on me. Won't it be dry?

That aside, supermarkets were all open till midnight at least so your DH will have been able to shop for a turkey after finishing work. Xmas Smile

For God sake! The poor guy just asked if you could buy a turkey instead of chicken with three days to go and your saying, WIBU to tell him to do one?
Erm! Yes! and Or just starve the bastard on Monday and enjoy my chicken
I feel sorry for him, working all hours and being treated in this horrible way.

There are turkeys everywhere. We always buy ours on Christmas Eve when they’ve been reduced to half price.
